: Weekend Report = 4-3/4-5
DJForrestA 03-05-2006, 02:03 AM Got my bushwacker cutouts for the rear of the scout and I think I'm hosed. They don't seem to be tall enough to cover the giant cutouts I have. I didn't have any way to measure so I guessed. Think I can make them fit if I trim the inner part of the flare and bend them to make them fit the curve. I also DJ'd for some pretty hot chicks at a couple of bars this weekend. Saw some good fights from some pretty huge drunk guys and got the websight for my DJ business started. http://www.djidaho.com/ Its my first websight build and kinda looks hokey now but I hope I can get it looking decent when I figure out what I'm doing.
SSGTWC 03-05-2006, 08:00 AM Not much got done by me this week. Tuesday, I did get about half way through with putting a 205 back together. Found one of the bearing housings to be cracked, and a yoke to be unserviceable. At that point, I just walked away. I have another 205 sittin out at the farm, but I need to get the T-all's exhaust fixed, so I can use the OBA. Oh well.

Wednesday, I had the last surgery done! Got the right hand's carpal tunnel fixed. Over the past few days, I've learned that this is truely a right hand dominant biased world. :flipoff2:
Anyway, this is the current stage that the right hand is in.

I've been reading up on this AK variant, and I can't wait to get started on the mods.
Gen. Nonsense 03-05-2006, 08:48 AM Worked in the back yard yesterday, figured out how I wanted to layout the trailer storage and rv gate. In the early evening I played front yard golf with the neighbors. Fortunatly we used tennis balls and and only chip shot were allowed.
Today, I am gonna finish the shower in the master bathroom and enjoy the rest of the weekend.
binderbart 03-05-2006, 09:03 AM Not much wrenchin done Friday or Saturday.

You are going to have to come to AZ and wheel with the SDS guys. They will help you get something other than the cruising to the Mall pics. :flipoff2:
Well, I decided to quit red-necking it and painted my hood and installed the Hood scoop on it. Painted it ORANGE of coarse! :smokin:

I know, I know. Right now everything is still frozen. Mostly greasy on the top layer. I did find one hill that was fun, but the better half didn't want to chance getting out and taking shots of that one. I basically went out to see how much tire rub I got.....LOTS. Time for the spring over or some serious fender cutting.
I was a member of SDS years ago when I first got a scout. I wanted to get your newsletters. Lots of good info in them. I'll bet if you did some research you might have a record of that somewhere.
The color of the trail rig is Alis Chalmers orange...just doesnt seem right on a I.H.:flipoff2:
Binder 03-05-2006, 11:05 AM No wheelin for me, I've been sick. Did go to a friends house for a club meeting with a BIG bon fire.......Never knew 20 gal or trans fluid would burn so good.
What happened to March ? Are we just going to April ?
Gen. Nonsense 03-05-2006, 11:36 AM What happened to March ? Are we just going to April ?:confused:Didnt notice till you posted:laughing: Its like a really bad time warp
Tahcustomscout 03-05-2006, 12:19 PM On Saturday I went with my father-in-law (who is always good about trying to put me to work) went over to the house of a freinds of his, and cut down about 23 large trees... We got them all down but only cut up half of them. I have to go back friday to finish the job. Sunday I just cleaned out all of the extra parts in the back of my traveler, This week I will start using it as a daily driver. Last wednesday I put on the body lift and I am just waiting for the steering u-joint to come in on monday. Now I have to start on the body work...

Bindernut 03-05-2006, 03:32 PM Found the noise coming from my front Truetrac...
Nice work! How'd you do that?
budget76 03-05-2006, 03:40 PM decided that boggers suck for driving on road. they wander like crazy:rolleyes: who wants to sell me some 33's cheep:D
Shadow man 03-05-2006, 06:07 PM http://http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=232669&d=1141607147Painted and installed the hood. Later I will work on it and make it really cowl induction. You know, I realized the front of my truck is out of whack for some reason. The hood didn't align up properly. :D
TheCopperCowboy 03-05-2006, 06:27 PM I put the '65 Scout 80 and '74 200 pick up on eBay Saturday, looks like the 200 is definately going to a new home. I was throwing body parts on the '77 and came to find the drivers side door opening is 1/4" - 3/8" short at the top. Gonna chain her to a post and pull it open with a come-along or the winch. The cats love the '79 front seats, fawkin' cat hair everywhere! Thinning the herd was a painful and wise decision. Now, maybe, something will get done. Oh, and I'm off the 5.0 kick. Looking for a diesel instead. :smokin:
DJForrestA 03-05-2006, 06:38 PM Sorry I guess I'm really getting anxious for my trip to Mexico and it was 2am.
Urban Wheeler 03-05-2006, 08:10 PM Friday, went to our monthly get-together and drank a little, stopped by my friend's shop Saturday. He was working on his Jeep and decided to take it for a test spin. As he was started down the street, I noticed that the strap holding his hood down was coming off. Before I could say anything, he mashed the gas and roared of. A couple seconds lated we heard a bang and ran over to the street just in time to see him turn the corner with his hood up! When he came back there was a big ass dent where it flipped up and hit the cage.
Today, just a little paintball. Got to the field and found that I had forgotten the feed neck. Had to borrow a gun from my brother.
IHC-6 03-05-2006, 08:57 PM I re-did the fuel system on my Travelall, and converted it to run a spin-on fuel filter.
I watched over Ben's new toy for a while also.
Worked on front drive line, had to grind tranny pan to get CV to fit. Still need to cut and reweld drive line. Decided since Scout will not be ready by next weekend, to get the Heep running. Going to DMV Monday for current tags.:shaking:
Gotta have something to play in the mud with at Hollister. It's been raining a lot so it's going to be ugly, and the forcast is nothing but rain:crybaby2:
Eagle-Mark 03-05-2006, 09:23 PM Nice work! How'd you do that?Wheeling every weekend... :D
Actually Eaton (detroit) says there is supposed to be a bolt through the middle of that piece I never did find...
Snoopy 03-05-2006, 09:38 PM Funny thing about the tru-tracs. If you don't tighten the allen key that holds that big block in, then it falls out can causes :nuke:
We ran into that once. My guess is that is what happened. Sorry Mark, good luck getting detroit to warrenty it. If you're lucky you'll be able to get a replacement block, shove it in (don't forget to tighten the allen that holds it ;))and run it. The one that came apart on us, that's exactly what I did, reused it in a personal scout. No problems
Mechanos 03-05-2006, 09:40 PM ...Oh, and I'm off the 5.0 kick. Looking for a diesel instead. :smokin:
What ya looking for? a 4bta?
Snoopy 03-05-2006, 09:46 PM Shadowman, the new paint looks REAL good. I didn't realize how hammered your front end was until I saw how nice the new paint looked!
Snoopy 03-05-2006, 09:51 PM Saturday: started coughing like I caught something from the kids. But still there was progress on Rusty. I got the radiator modified to fit the scout better, then we put Rusty's new TF727 in, mocked up the doubler and D300 and got driveshaft measurements. Sent those off to Jesse for shafts, should have them by next weekend for assembly.
Sunday: woke up at 3am coughin like a mad-dog. Went to store for cough med and stayed around the house all day.
JoshC 03-05-2006, 10:09 PM I'm taking this wheelin next weekend! I have a lot of work left. The cage is done... for now... I think. I have stainless steel roof panels. That's neet. :D I have been working non stop and friends have been helping and for the life of me, I can't remember what we got finished. The list was two pages and now it's a half page so we got a lot done. I'll have plenty of pics next weekend.

johnnyx 03-05-2006, 10:23 PM hmm...uhh...removed the "mud" outa my rear diff. I think that's all I did...worked all weekend...
TheCopperCowboy 03-06-2006, 12:47 AM What ya looking for? a 4bta?
Yep, or an Isuzu w/ GM trans plate. :smokin:
uglyscout 03-06-2006, 08:06 AM Cut down a rear driveline for my front driveline on the Scout.
Welded up a set of front u-joints into the axles.
Cleaned out all the junk that has piled up for years in the Scout.
Put the tailgate back on my pickup for the first time in years - put a new grill on my pickup as well.
Welded up a table thingy for my wife.
Diesel Smoke 03-06-2006, 10:42 AM Celebrated my 25th B-day on Friday with the family. Spent most of the remainder of the weekend trying to get over a cold. I usually don't have bad colds, but this one seemed to kick my ass, well now the pseudofed is prescription only (stupid governer!:mad3: ). Feeling much better today
DJForrestA 03-06-2006, 10:42 AM Sorry fella's about the date on the post but I can't figure out how to edit it. Sorry. Does anyone know a good cam for a chevy 350 Daily driver. I tow all the time with it and run 37's and 4.88. Most of the time its turning 3000 rpm.

Gee, that's alright. I udetrnnsad what is't liek to be dick-less-ic, all the lettres and numebrs get suwhiched arunod so easliy!!! :flipoff2:
Harvester of Sorrow 03-06-2006, 12:35 PM Looked at my tranny in the rig on my way out of town...
Traveled to Yakima (2+ hours away) to visit with my mother for her birthday and to "have" my boys for the weekend...
I am now sitting in the Northern Kentucky Regional Airport (Cinci) on my way to North Carolina...
Mechanos 03-06-2006, 12:54 PM Cincinati airport sucks ass.... I hate the damn terminal C out in the middle all by itself. Gotta take a damn bus/tram thingy to get out there (or back) to catch a connecting flight.

They sent me the block and bolt no charge! :D And also told me they don't make that Truetrac anymore, new one has no block to remove to put c-clips in. No block means it can't fall out... I had a set of 4:11 gears so it's a cheap fix...

Last time I was at that airport was right after my first roll.. riding shotgun with Epp at the Nats. :D
CabtopXLC 03-06-2006, 06:23 PM Made good progress on twin sticking the 205. I finally received the missing 3/4" spacer from Klune. What a difference! Made a plate that bolts to the passenger side of the T-19. The twin sticks mount to it and come up right through the original hole in the tunnel cover.

Yeah C terminal is recockulous...I fortunately landed in B and got to stay in B... I was typing that message in the Delta Crown Club Room...
I am now in Rocky Mount, NC...Yayyyyy....
Munchies 03-06-2006, 08:16 PM RELAXED. Did nothing of any importance. It was sweeeetttt.
Got me adriveshaft from high angle today. bliiiiing got to fawkin finsih the coil buckets. (from scratch...fairly bling...) Need to get a measurement out to jesse for the rear shaft...
Oh..Talked to BDS about a 392 blower package. Sending them crank hubs for machining soon. A certain M.Ismail says aluminum heads are happening this summer. Those + a custom blower intake..I figure an easy 700hp out of a 392.... Jeff clouse runs over 700 in a 392 with a 6-71 blower 7:1, no intercooler, MILD head work, efi and a cam.... :)
Snoopy 03-07-2006, 10:47 AM Oh yeah, I finished the cheap jeep buggy build for my machinist.

Some of these pictures were 'in-progress' so I dont be too hard on me. The main thing is the front tube work got may gussetts to the inner bars and to the frame to support the outter 'flat-fender' tube work.
To bad Team RS doesn't want a buggy like this for the comps. Wouldn't mind building a scout version ;)
NVScouter 03-07-2006, 11:04 AM Still stuck in TX till June, but its getting close to being home with my IHCs..umm I mean wife.
One thing about being away from your rigs and garage gives you time for and thats evil thinking.
Thinking I want a buggy/cut down rig instead of the pretty Scout and T-all I built. Since most of the serious work on the T-all is done I could chop/swap/or steal from it since I know of a 73 and 68 Scout bodies I can grab for free/close to it. Or just hack up the T-all and keep the registration/title and not screw with anything else.
I have almost 5K in this T-all now and I doubt I'd get enough $ out of a straight sale to do what I want. And a rebuilt 392IC in the garage for it that I didnt get a chance to put in B4 shipping out to Texahoma. But I have till June to decide.
O yeah all she needs is paint/flares/exhaust/gears. Feel free to laugh at my hoopty exhaust :D!

I've had those thoughts many times now...and I've got more like $10K in mine.
We wheeled Sunday...I busted a shock mount off. Then at the end of the day, my mechanical fuel pump actuator arm retainer pin came out...pump no worky.:mad3: Scout became a trailer queen. Found the problem on Monday as I was removing the pump.

I know that I would hate to see you end all that good work just to build a buggy.
Us Big Binder wheelers have to stick together. :D
NVScouter 03-07-2006, 06:02 PM I've had those thoughts many times now...and I've got more like $10K in mine.
This was my 3rd build so it was cheaper, I still dont know how I put 12K into my Scout, I could do the same for 8K now. Well some of that was tools though.
I know that I would hate to see you end all that good work just to build a buggy.
Us Big Binder wheelers have to stick together.
Yeah me too but thats what no rig/tools/wheeling and lots of time on my hands do to me.
Or just find a D60F, 14B/D60/D70 rear and make the damn frame/everything else. I only have the engine/tranny sitting in my garage...........:D
Come June when I'm outa here I still will be up in the air I'm sure, I was just thinking a 3 person buggy that fits on a trailer nicely and tows well w/tools would make my life a bit easier.
Yeah I'm on crack...I know...
O yeah and my wife started all this by sugesting we get a car hauler trailer for tax purposes! So I blame her.
Feel free to link this to the BB and watch heads explode too....and why is nobody laughing at my exhaust?
