What it needs;
I bought this runner on a lein sale. I built it and wheeled it a few times with a temp license. To be registered in CA. it needs either a stock intake, or a K&N FIPK and it needs to be inspected by a referee and givin a smog sticker. All the smog stuff is on and working. Custom exhaust has cat installed. Charcoal canister is in, check engine light hooked up.

What will it take to get it to pass a California smog test?

FIREBALL
03-12-2006, 05:32 PM
It either needs a stock intake (which like a dumbass I threw away when I was building it) or a K&N FIPK. K&N is the only aftermarket intake i've been able to find with a CARB #.
I am so burned out on working on rigs right now that I don't have the ambition to even touch it anymore.
As far as the rest of the smog stuff....it's on there. It's got a cat, the check engine light is wired in, it has a charcoal canister, etc.

Did some work on the runner today. Put a panhard bar up front...wow, what a huge differance. The steering is so much more precise. I can truly say now that this rig is definetly a daily driver. Almost makes me want to keep it now.

will it pass ca smog inspection (w/ref) with a toy trannie?

FIREBALL
03-20-2006, 03:52 PM
Yes, the computer is a manual trans computer. No trans controls. It has a vehicle speed sensor at the speedo output on the tcase.
The only smog related thing that it doesn't have is a CARB approved intake. I was a moron and threw away the stock setup thinking I didn't need it.

I was diggin in my garage and found the stock 4.3 airbox. Soooo, if I can find some time i'm gonna put it on and get it to the ref for the smog sticker.

Crap....if I get that all done.....I might have to keep it.?.?
Been driving it to work lately and damn it drives nice around town. Better than puttin miles on my superduty.
