I know that Harbor Freight often has multiple prices on their website for the same item using different item numbers.

Does anyone know how their numbering scheme works?

Here's a link to their 12 ton jackstands:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=34924

I think they use different item numbers... but I'm not sure how to find them.

it generally goes like this, 34924-4VGA would have different
prices for the same part with item numbers the same except the -4VGA would be 5VGA or 6 or 7 or some other number. i just tried all those combo's but didn't find any other prices.

if you do a search there was a thread on this about a month ago and some guy gave more info on finding out the lowest price.

Edit: here's the thread: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36450

I wonder if I were to do that, and print it to bring to my local store if they would honor it? I got a gift cert to use..

i don't think so. they just opened a store here last month and the mgr of the store said that the stores and the mailorder biz are owned by seperate groups of people.

i bring printouts to my local HF all the time and they always honor it. thats how i got my clicker torque wrench for $9.95 and saved about $150 when i bought all my welding stuff. they always honor the online prices for me as long as i give em a printout they can send to the corporate office or wherever.

Thats the way to do it...but on this one you don't get much of a savings. -4VGA was $79.99 and -5VGA was $75.99, but a lot of times you can get like a 15-20% discount...combine that with one of the free shipping coupons they put in a lot of the catalogs and its pretty nice. I saved over $100 last fall doing this.

Sup David!!!

I was trying that trick on the 6 ton jack stands (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=38847) but there is no discount for those.

I took a printout of the online ad in to the store in Simi Valley and got the auto-darkening welding hood (normally $139.95) for $89.95.

funny the whole reason on got the HF torque wrench was because all the people on THIS BOARD said that if you take care of it it will work just as good as any other. and it came with a lifetime warranty which the craftsman ones dont.
