: nissan p/s box???

ok after searching and not being able to find a toyota box i found a nissan one, off a late 80's 4wd, mounts outside the frame, looks about the size of a toy box.... anyone here every use one? good, bad? anyone know where to drill and tap for hyd. assist???

There's a guy around here who has a Nissan p/s box on his Sammy. I've never seen it but a member named zookiguy from this bulletin board told me about it. So it can be done.:D

Might be on to something there , as Toy IFS boxes are getting pricey

I had a Nissan box on my samurai, like you said it's about the same size
It turned good with 35's with a spool. I even used the pump, lines everything.

I think you'll find they are pretty much all the same on most Jap trucks. The only differences would be things like shaft spline and mounting of the box.

I've always wonderd why no one used the nissian boxes they look like the would work well

The ones in the old Mitsu Montero and Dodge Raider have a nice 4 bolt flange. It is the same brand and size as all of the others too. The only thing that may throw a wrench in the works is if you can get an aftermarket pitman arm if needed.

well i guess i'll let you know how it works..... :flipoff2: i'll go pull that one off the truck this week and then start trying to figure out where to drill for hydro assist....
