Using a GM 1 Wire Alternator on the new motor, and in reality it uses 3 wires, 1 Bigger Positive wire terminal and then a small 2 Wire Plug using a red and a white wire...

The stock sammy harness has a larger white wire that I imagine runs to the alternator just as before, and then has a green plug with 2 more wires going to it..

My question is, Which of those 2 wires goes to the new alternator and connects to which color, or am i doing it all bakwards?

shouldn't this be in the FAQ as well?
And I would search, but you know how thats goin right now...

It's been i few years but i belive the red wire ( in the GM harness) attaches back onto the nut with the thicker wire to the battery, and the other wire gets spliced into one of the two original sammy plug wires. I cannot remember which one but it is a 50/50 chance of getting it right. No harm will come from it but if you get the wrong one the truck won't shut off so prepare to pull the battery terminal and then splice it into the other wire.

That should be it.

ive read that the Red GM harness wire is actually to turn on the alternator, so if its always on thats fine, I can run it to the stud on the alternator... The Dyno sheet on my alternator says it turns on at 750 RPM anyway, so if its running the alternator is charging... I have been told that the alternator can drain the battery if it has a short in it and its hooked up this way, but I have a master disconnect that I run as well...

Anyone know exactly which sammy wire goes to the white lead on the GM harness? I could gues, but im gonna be doing alot of that soon with the fuel injection from a VW motor, and would like to have a few less things to worry about...

Would this be the same for a 97 Tracker/Sidekick? Thanks!
