I was wondering if anyone could tell me what gears came in a '97 Tacoma?
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Is it a TRD? Think they have a 8.4 ring gear and I do know they come stock with 4:88's...others gears are available....run your vin #'s that'll tell you.....

I am not 100% sure this info is exact, but it should get you started.

4wd Tacoma: 8.25 diff just like the T100 & Tundra.
5 speed:
3.28

Automatic:
4.10

2wd Tacoma: if V6 same as 4wd, if 4cyl I think they are smaller.

This is what I have been told.
Call Randy's Ring & Pinion they are in everett, WA

There should be a code on the sticker on the driver side door jamb, it will tell you what ratio you have, then go to ORC, and look on the gearing chart. Or, it may be on the New England TTORA website.

My '96 V6 5speed has 4.10s. Factory 31 inch tire option.

3.56's more than likely. I have never heard of any Tacoma coming with anything lower that 4.10 though.

some auto 4bangers have 4.56's but that's as low as you'll find stock in a taco
