I remember reading a post about what leaf springs people were running on their formula toys. I cannot seem to locate it.
what are people running? what works well for the lighter Ftoy?
Are the 63" chevy rears legal?
the rules say,"Any conventional 1/2 elliptical leaf spring allowed"
is that conventional "toyota" or just any leaf spring?
Sorry that's kind of a dumb question but some of the ftoy builds are to spec and some are not.

I believe that you can run exactly as it stated. One thing I've learned in reading the Ftoy rules and applying them to a build is to take them verbatim and don't read anymore into it than is printed.
Doesn't answer your question directly but hope it helps:)

"Any" is what is stated.
I still have a set of old AP's 4" lift leafs. They still work awesome.
As soon as I bust a set, I may go with Deavers and while at it, I'll add a set of pivot perches.

I was trying to find the info in all of the ftoy build threads.
I think the ftoy build threads should be labeled spec or non-spec.
Also Kinda wanted to figure out what worked and what didn't
thanks though,
Rio

I know at least one Formula Toy that's running custom made Deavers, legally.
i run 4" all pro leafs in the back inboarded to front width.
i run a stock rear / 40400404004 4" springs hybrid in the front. :D and i have been changing my front springs about every trip.
I'm going to be running hybrid rear packs, 48" in the front and 51" in the back for now, worked good in the front of my old trucks figured i'd try em and the price was right

I wouldn't recommend Chevies. Formula Toys don't have enough weight to make them work well.

If I was to do it again I would set the rear up to use regular/aftermarket front springs for interchangabilty. Probably backwards. I currrently run 51". Theres no need to run those long ass springs sticking out past the rear of your rig.You are inboarding them to same width as the front and having a good departure angle is nice. The only thing those long springs even the 56" are gonna help you with is high speed stuff.

Standard leaf springs allowed, be it Toyota, Chevy, Ford, Corvette, Lamborginni, Ferrari, Deaver, All-Pro, Sky, etc. Inboarding allowed IAW the rules, Johnny joints, etc, IAW the rules. No buggy leaves, 1/4 eliptics, coil overs, MacPherson Struts, Fox Airs with no leaf, etc. etc.
