1994 Defender 90
Smells like its running very rich - very strong gas odor in the exhaust.
the black box thing on the firewall shows code 45, it actually looks like a 15, but i cant find a code 15 anywhere so i think its a 45 and part of the led is burned out?
i have tried changing both o2 sensors with the nissan equivalents that everyone uses. but still show the code.
Ive been reading about testing the sensors, and wiring but am not really sure what to look for? also everywhere i look it says to do test 26, continuity test procedure. but i cant find how to actually do this. do you check the sensors for continuity?
I also read that if it runs very rich or lean and shows code 45 it could be something else, but i cant remember where i saw it.

I know, I know
Ive already got on my flame suit:flipoff2:
- but im not used to working on a vehicle with so many sensors and wiring
Also i dont have any shop manuals my only resource as of now is the Internet.
I guess im gonna have to pony up for some shop books,
but could anybody help a brotha out with some tips or suggestions.

May well be the ignition module (had same symptoms in my 94).

Check the fuel pressure. If it too high the injector can't pulse quick enough and the motor runs rich.

Okay it is a code 15
I was also getting a code 45 - but I think ive got that cleared - I really Really hope.
Anyways
All i can find on code 15 is..

Code 15 Fuel Thermister
Refer to test 13 of the continuity test procedure.

Everything seems to lead to such and such on the continuity test procedure.
I cannot find the actual instructions on this test.
does anyone have it printed out or a link or anything??
Thanks

Ok
I got the light to clear
there is a plug - looks like the same kind that goes on each injector.
it is located on the fuel rail - right next to the Themostat housing.
One of the two wires inside that were loose.
I fixed that and reset the ECU - no more dummy light:smokin:
well at least for now.

Ill have to wait and see if the over-rich condition continues
I hope that this fixed it though.
