: Weekend Report 3-11 3-12
Rained and snowed all day Saturday out here in AZ .
Got a call Saturday night to help pull a friends Super Duty that was stuck in the mud out . The front hubs on his truck weren't working . So I got him out and then decided to help out a Cherokee that was also stuck . That's when I got stuck and broke my d-side u joint . With the help of a guy in a Chevy I was able to get out and now am in process of fixing my .
That mud is sure fun  , I should off just stayed home and watched SNL .

IHC-6 03-12-2006, 12:56 PM Washed the truck inside and out for the first time since OBDR last year. Fixed the stereo power connections that failed about a year ago. Degreased the engine and discovered that my oil pan gasket is falling out due to age.
Guess I get to drop the oil pan and put in a new one.
At least the truck is clean :D
Brandon 03-12-2006, 01:40 PM welded the RS shackle tubes into the frame on my S80 project and put on some new shackles on my SII project :)
Bill usn-1 03-12-2006, 01:41 PM Burned some more chips, wrote some more how to's and fixed my rear body mounts that decided to bend with the weight of my sliding drawer box in the bed!!
Explains the doors needing to be adjusted!! and pulled the rear driveshaft to grease the CV joint and clean the slip joint.

Hmmm... Hillbillys in a wash.:flipoff2:
I thought I was gonna have to sandbag the back patio to keep the water from coming in the house:laughing:
Sat. Worked on my dash and tied up loose/unused wiring, finished wiring for the Viair compressor, wired the front Hellas to a relay and switch.
Today, more dash work. About 90% complete right now...waiting on my electric oil pressure guage from Summit.
Pics to follow...
Binder 03-12-2006, 01:55 PM I wheeled with Rusty on Sat and went to the swap meet today.
chris408 03-12-2006, 02:09 PM Wheeled with Scouts West, and watched the Dysfunctionals...
Urban Wheeler 03-12-2006, 02:35 PM Sucks ass when you are broke, no job, can't get a job, can't keep a job, and your DD get's repo'd.
Just one of those days...
everyday.
installationsplus 03-12-2006, 03:06 PM Scout race truck gets a new color(IH red). Never did like the orange.:barf:

Fuck man!!! WTF?
I thought you still had a job, IIRC, it was a grave yard shift?
I know what it's like to be unemployed, but shit, that really blows.
budget76 03-12-2006, 03:40 PM took the lift shackles off the front, to level the truck out, and to fix the shitty castor. took it around the neighborhood to check out how much better it was, then she trys to stall out. ok, she runs at idle. put it in gear, nothing. check the fuel filter. dry. OK, walk home, rig up a jerrycan and drive it home. i guess it's time to re-do all the hoses.
dropped the tank, after spending an hour draining it. 30 gallon tank+fuel guage always reading empty+putting gas in every short trip=lots of gas and no tanks to put it in:laughing: so, cleaned the tank, and will paint it sometime this week.
looks like i'm doing a couple bigger jobs before i had planned. now that the tanks out, i'll be welding in the rear bumper, lowering my bumpstops, re-inforcing my bed, and rewiring everything in the rear of the truck. i love how many projects jump up like this:rolleyes:

Long story, short story, here goes. I had a nice job as a semi trailer mechanic. After about 6 months at that job I decided I should have a nice something to drive. I bought a 98 ZJ. (Grand Cherokee) About 6 months ago I lose that job, get behind. I get a job that pays $8/hr. I can at least make payments. After about 2 months I get an offer for a $16/hr job. I take that, work one day, and they tell me they can't hire me. Back to the temp agency. They place me in a warehouse working 3rd on the weekends. $9.25/hr. Ok, better than Harris Kayot. I go to MEPS and have to get up at 4 am two days I am there, then back to 3rds. I get back to work and am sitting at a desk trying to do paperwork and I can't stay awake. After awhile I have some coffee and get back to work. The next day I come in and the boss is on the phone and tells me to go home, don't finish the weekend. Now I'm thinking that I'll ship for basic soon and I don't worry about it, buit it has been about a month and the recruiter is still doing paper work.So here I am, getting behind, trying to find a job, been to Lowe's, Home depot, Harbor freight, local bowling alley I used to work at, welder's supply house, etc, nothing. Just last friday I borrowed some money from my dad and couldn't get to the bank before they closed. I was going to go over there monday.:(

Find another recruiter! This one should have had you in the system by now!
Mechanos 03-12-2006, 05:08 PM Friday night: ripped the dash apart on my tow rig looking for a good spot to mount a tranny temp gauge and route the wiring. Decided to take the opportunity to pull a few of the dash pieces off so I can finally clean up all the California and Utah dust from last fall.
Saturday: Get up early and a buddy picked me to head down to the Snake Parade. Proceed to get completely shit-faced by noon and carry on into the afternoon. Head home around 4:00pm where I promptly passed out on the couch for about 2.5 hours. Get up, watch a little tv and decided my head hurts too much so I go to bed.
Sunday: Finish cleaning the dash of the tow rig and put it back together. Pick up a tranny jack from my neighbor so I can drop the tranny in the tow rig next weekend for a rebuild. Spend the late afternoon, early evening watching the radar and listening to the Sky Warn net on the ham radio and then strategically traveling about town to avoid the thunderstorm cells that were dropping 2"+ hail stones. Barely got into a covered garage in time to miss one storm and was able to completely drive around the others to avoid massive hail damage to the Dodge. Fawkin' thing cost too damn much to let it sit in the driveway and get pounded by hail.
ih4ever 03-12-2006, 05:21 PM well i did nothing on sat. except go to down to davis, for some volleyball games, sunday met up with 76binder at sierra neveda brewry with scout254, had some good food, too young for beer... legally anyways:D :D :D went to torch the scout and found i had a leak in my oxygen hose:shaking: :shaking: no wonder i had to buy more then usaual. takin some old tires to the dump,
on monday goin to order my elocker and 35 spline hubs, and chromoly 35 spline outer shafts, along with 5.13's for my 60 and 14 bolt:D :D :D :D :D

Rocker switches for Head and marker lights, front spots, rock lights, and compressor. The last one is a spare for now.
http://members.cox.net/79scoutguy/Switch%20panel%20004.jpg
I removed the air/heat controls and had one of those rockers laying around, to my surprise, it fit so I bought 4 more and had to cut the existing hole a little longer (about 3/8")to get the fifth one to fit. Everything that is powered with the switches(excluding the compressor) runs through a relay up on the fire wall and are fused on a separate fuse panel (also on the interior firewall). The comp. has a relay built into the pressure switch mounted on the tank.
tsm1mt 03-12-2006, 07:16 PM I wheeled with Rusty on Sat and went to the swap meet today.
Rusty went wheeling??!!
Saturday a buddy came over and used the shop to mount the CB in his Scout n' adjust his steering wheel.. then I replaced the TPS on another buddy's Chevy pickup.. ho-hum. I did get some cleaning done and sorted my bolt bins.
Sunday I fixed the horn on the DD Scout, installed the new H4s, and lowered the seat (PO had installed a 2x4 "lift" on the bench seat that was fine until I put a headliner in.. my hair was attracted to the ceiling..)
Finished bolting the trans into the racer, bolted down the engine, fabbed a new driveline loop for the front, installed the new body mount bushings.. almost ready to put the frame back under the tub.
Tahcustomscout 03-12-2006, 07:51 PM Friday I went and finished a job cutting up some trees. Run a chain saw from 8:30 till 4:00 then hit the bone yard and had a look around, finally got home and removed the entire dash from my traveler, so I can start on the custom dash. Saturday I Had Drill, and was on the range most of the day...M249. So I run a S.A.W. all day Saturday too. Then just finished out the weekend on Sunday by cleaning weapons and sitting through training classes all day. Hell I worked harder on the weekend then I do in the shop all week. Oh and Urban Wheeler... sometimes those recruiters fall down on the job, you have to stay on his ass, or go over him. Light a fire under him.
Harvester of Sorrow 03-12-2006, 07:54 PM Got back from Raleigh, NC late on Friday night...
Saturday I bagged on Rusty to be his bitch wheeling:( This allowed me to finish pulling my tranny and get it to the rebuilders shop Saturday afternoon/evening.
Sunday I went to a laaarrrrgggeee 4x4 swapmeet...
I saw BEN W, BINDER, and JEEPDUDE_JAY there...
TheCopperCowboy 03-12-2006, 08:04 PM Just sold my $300 '74 200 for $1125. :smokin: on eBay and the '65 80 went for the reserve price of $1500. :( Bunch of other 5.0 computers and harnesses, along with the ZF 5-speed go off tomorrow. Not a bad chunk of change for shtuff laying around. Next week, I put the deposit on the '98 Chrysler Sebring convertible and trade in the '93 Ranger club cab. Now, at least, I can go topless with leather and a Bose stereo this summer. :smokin:
Urban Wheeler 03-12-2006, 08:46 PM Find another recruiter! This one should have had you in the system by now!
It's not him, I have some waivers that have to go through Washington first.

scout254 03-12-2006, 10:45 PM Sat - worked. Then went home and stayed up till 1am cleaning off the muck from my Th400 & resealing my 205 t/c which goes in my new tow rig.
Sun - got up late, had lunch with other "pirate4x members" at the Sierra Nevada Brew House. Did my taxes, and did laundry. Wow what a fun weekend....:flipoff2: :shaking:

OT.
Don't we all!!!
I had 3 of them when I joined 24yrs ago!!
It's worth it!!
If nothing else it's great to have job security!
What branch are you going for?
Sand73 03-13-2006, 07:43 AM played in the mud
Diesel Smoke 03-13-2006, 09:54 AM Saturday: Worked all day getting the last "fix" for my transmission installed. When I finally got it all back together, it went forward it went backward and all was right with the world. So I took it for a little drive, pull into a driveway and BANG it won't go backward anymore:mad3: :mad3: :mad3:. Made a quick left and drove home through a field. So that was the last nail in this tranny's coffin, time to go with plan B, either have someone rebuild my tranny or try it myself:eek:
Sunday: Got up late watched NASCAR, took the dogs for a walk, then helped Dad replace the fuel pump on the 401 in the T'all. That didn't fix the starting problems of the off idle stumble.
I really hate weekend like this, I should have went to the swap meet!!:(
Snoopy 03-13-2006, 04:40 PM Packed up the house for the move. We close on Wed.
Sand73 03-14-2006, 06:43 PM D&C is closeing!?
budget76 03-14-2006, 06:51 PM he's moving the shop to his new house/property ;)
Sand73 03-14-2006, 10:42 PM I need to stop being so lazy and read more of the posts.
Snoopy 03-15-2006, 09:05 AM Closing pushed to Friday. Freaking A! Get things done, work my @#$*(# off to get things to close, run around for days collecting the paperwork ~ and they have to push it back. Now I'm behind, working late to complete stuff that should have been done WEEKS ago.
And to complicate things, we got 2 more kids (foster) last night. Emergency placements ( 6yr old and 1 month old sisters) ~ cute little cuss's but it would be nice to be able to move the beds and cloths to the new house so we all have some elbow room. 6 person family in a 860 sq ft house that's currently full of packed boxes. Gotta love that!
Must have patience. Must have :nuke:
Snoopy 03-15-2006, 09:18 AM Might as well post a couple pictures of the place.

NEW digs,no grass, light carpet and multi curtain climbers don't make for good humor of the wife person.:D
Where are the pics of the Man Space??:shaking:
Props to you/yall on the foster parent thing!!! It aint the kids fault they are taken from the homes!! Yall have to try to be the parents they never had, unless their placement was because of a death. Major rant for me so I will leave it at that.:mad3:
Here's to ya
Congrads on the digs!!
Snoopy 03-15-2006, 05:47 PM NEW digs,no grass, light carpet and multi curtain climbers don't make for good humor of the wife person.:D
The carpet has dark specles in it, the grass up front is dirt-colored due to it being winter, but it took before the weather turned sour.
Where are the pics of the Man Space??:shaking:
Sorry man, I grabbed those photos from the apprasial (I got a copy in my email). I'll be sure to take more pictures of the place. The photos are deceptive, the place is pretty big. I get the 1100 sq foot basement and the 3-car garage (its a tandem). The side yard is also mine for Rusty/trailer. I'm stoked. Got the call and the closing is Friday 3PM.
It aint the kids fault they are taken from the homes!! Yall have to try to be the parents they never had, unless their placement was because of a death.
No deaths, just junkies. Its a crying shame they don't clean up, but that Meth stuff is more addicting than people think. The 1-month old had been exposed, and it stays in their system for 4 month (min). I'm telling ya, those horror stories are way off ~ its not troubled kids, its the freakin junky parents that make the whole thing a pain. The kids are great (obviously hadn't had any teenagers yet) ~ its the parents that make use want pull our hair out!
Here's to ya
Congrads on the digs!!
Thanks. I'm 100% ready to move today (mentally at least). I'll tell ya, its going to be nice to be out of the colo-springs ghetto. Not to say we are in a bad neighborhood (as crime is minimal and people are freindly), but at the same time, we've lived in one of the poorer areas just because it was easy to get a house there when our family wasn't so stable. I've had my eye open for nicer neighborhoods for quite some time. Seeing some of the guy's places here, I've always had the 'wouldn't it be nice' thought in the back of my head. Now that we are on our feet and have been for a number of years, its definately time to move. Being it a BRAND new house only adds to it.
Here is the house we currently live in, its freakin SMALL
http://www.dandcextreme.com/old/cage/image/cage2.jpg
Believe it or not, the left side of the front door is the center of the house ~ so what you see covered by the scout is literally 1/2 of the house. Ya, a 24x36 foot place!
More of the house seen behind my old terra:

The backyard is a big tho.. here's a shot of Lil Mule and it shows part of the rear.

I used to have a Hippie looking freak come by my shop every now and then when I lived up there. He would ask if I would do a full Auto conversion on his weapons. Like I am dumb enough not to be able to smell a BATF agent. :shaking: There is a lot of government agents there.
This weekend went by Glamis, and staying in Krazyfornia. I still do not have any desire to live in this madhouse state again.
scout254 03-15-2006, 10:54 PM Went to DMV today, spent way too much there. Got trailer and K30 registered and almost had a heart attack after they told me the total bill due:flipoff2:
Then went back to friends house where my new trailer is at and he already had it hooked up to his truck and he put his scout2 on it to see how it fits.......:shaking:

Snoopy 03-16-2006, 10:34 AM Do you have an HOA there? Do they allow you park vehicles/trailers in the yard (or side of the house)??
That was one of our MAIN concerns, and we checked into it throughly.
The development has one outlined, as part of the 'community plan', but nothing has been organized, nor is there any dues. We searched the covenants and there's no problems with trailers as long as they aren't eye sores.
My buddy Led (guy with white MJ truggy) lives in the same development and has had up to 2 16+ foot trailers, 7 rigs and 1 buggy in front of his house without problems (not even behind a gate). His Truggy and my trailer are currently in his driveway and have been for the last year and then-some ~ and let me tell ya, he parked them after a moab trip, tires near flat, axle bent, paint scraped up and beat to . So if there is anyone that will get flack for being an eyesore, it's him!
Driving around the neighborhood has turned up at least 10 guys with tow rigs and trailers for various motorsports. Most seeming to be Motorcross/ATV enclosed trailers parked behind fences (obviously taller than the fences). There are several wheelers in my immediate area, with thier weekend rigs parked out front still covered in mud.
So I'm honestly not sweating the HOA or Covanantes. If they fight me, they have to fight everyone else, and since they haven't band them in the documentation, we're simply not worried about it.

Actually a Southern Idaho boy here. Not your stereo type either. I do love guns and lifted trucks, but I also am a pretty bad ass DJ that loves hip hop and Latin tracks and spins in clubs and bars at least 2 days a week , doesn't drink and goes to church on Sunday. Man now that I think about it that is a wierd combo. Guess thats why I ended up owning a Scout.
