: 1985 Bronco engine and axle ? attachcurrie 04-05-2002, 08:00 AM What type of axle would an 85 Bronco with the 302/Auto have? Also what tranny will it have and is it a good tranny. A guy has a Bronco he is selling cheap and I thought about swapping the drivetrain minus the IFS front into my Jeep. Is the engine a pretty solid engine? Thanks!! pavelow 04-05-2002, 05:08 PM A buddy of mine has a 85 F150, essentially the same vehicle. His 302 runs strong, and he has a c-6 tranny, which is a AWESOME tranny. I would upgrade the fuel injection though, his seems to be shitty. He has a 9" rear in his, not sure if they all came with them or not. bsoder 04-06-2002, 05:25 AM 85 was during the changeover years, it may have the 9" and it may have the 8.8". Alpo 04-06-2002, 08:37 AM 8.8" rear. only the 351 got the 9" in the bronco when the 8.8" became availible in '81/'82( I think this is when it was intro'd) From '87 on up all Bronco's got the 8.8" 'The 9" is dead, Long live the 9" ' Eric btw: Bronco C-6 with Np-208 with fixed yoke rear output. F-150 got the dreaded slip-yoke rear output. Does it have the 9" since it was a 351 stock? Help me out, what trans/tcase do you think this is? 85 Bronco. It has a 351 bolted to the trans right now, but that might not be the stock motor. It is a floor shifter and I don't remember the rear axle. The guy told me it was a C4(but didn't know).... do you think it is a C6? Does the AOD use a floor shift or electric column shift? And, Ford never built a fullsize truck with a floor shift auto...
