i have an idea to put 3/4 ton D44 front axle parts on a ford 9" that i can get cheap to make it 8-lug and full-floater. i would make a round piece with a bolt pattern that would be welded to the 9" axle to for the spindle to bolt to. what i am looking for is the OD (outside diameter) of the D44 spindle where it mounts to the steering knuckle on the front axle. i need to decide soon if i want this 9", and am currently just trying to work out the feasibility issues. thanks for any info! matt

121mm across the part that bolts to the knuckle.

This is a 6 bolt spindle, I'm using with Ford F150 rotors.
Thingk the spindle studs are 100mm on center or close to that.

so thats about 4.75 inches OD with a 4 in bolt circle for the mounting studs... so far, it seems like it will work. i'll post the exact dimensions when i make the piece that welds to the housing. Thanks! matt

I think I have seen a chevy d44 spindle bolted up to a stock 9" flange (of corse w/ 4 bolts not 6). You should be able to just weld on ears to line up w/ the other 2 bolts. PM "m j". I think he as some pics in his webshots.

i think if you do a search for 9" on this forum you'll find a guy posted some kind of fancy drawing (i'm obviously not any kind of engineer) a few weeks back.

I think your'e trying to make this tougher than needed. The dirt track stock car guys do this all the time. Check around some of the racing sites. The trouble with using a stock spindle...I think is the ID. Good luck.

Yeah actually www.stockcarproducts.com has some of this stuff I think.
I ordered their catalog a while back.
Took a while to get here, but its chock full of goodies.
