: Scorpion Racing's business ethics Suck!!!!!!!
Hi, I know some of you on here may be already aware of Scrapiron's business practices but seems they've done it again. Let the small guy come up with a neat idea, the X-Eng Disk EB to replace the lt230 drum in this case, resell it for a while to test the market and now cut him out by selling their own copy.

Quite right.Well done for calling them out on this.
RedRhinoProducts 03-14-2006, 08:42 PM This is one of the main reasons we stopped selling SR and started selling Equipe. Almost all the suspension/armor products SR sells were originally designed by Equipe. SR was selling "Equipe" products using their name and advertising but selling their own copies taking all the profit.
The products by Equipe are better quality anyhow IMOP.

PTSchram 03-14-2006, 10:31 PM I have yet to hear anything positive about Scrapiron, in spite of my having a set of their front shock hoops.
Taking someone's idea and improving upon it is one thing. Blatant copying for your own benefit is something completely different.
I'm the first one to say that there are only so many ways to skin a cat, but there aren't many things I don't think I can improve upon :flipoff2: Sliders are a perfect example, so many iterations, some better than others, but in the end, they are all sliders.

This coming from someone who's website consists of everyone else's content?
I'm betting you don't sell Scorpion because they told you to stop it.

I am offended by this comment.:flipoff2:
I'm all for supporting the little guy, but, before we all start throwing rocks - most of the great new ideas that come into the market seem to adapted/copied/improved pretty quickly. Most of the little guys we support weren't first in their product category. Who was first with relocating shock mounts - desertrover? Steering guards - southdown? Safarigards stuff is copied everywhere. ARB bull bars?
Maybe we should just either get patent protection or accept imitation and hope it leads to improvement.
Having said that, I'm ordering an x-eng brake.

I personally doubt this. The first to build any given product was likely some smoe in his garage. He built it as a neccesity.
I could probably say I am the first to build aftermarket rear wheel wells for a Range Rover using this same principal. I built them out of necessity, nothing more.
But I sure wish I could find a better way to help pay for this hobby...

Please elaborate! You got any proof to back your shit up, or are you talking out of your ass? Post up some spring rates, etc....
I'm not saying your a lier, I'd just like to see some proof from such a bold statement. Cause really, I have no idea.
J bradley 03-15-2006, 05:59 PM Isn't Red Rhino down under getting the reverse flush in the mudholes right now :flipoff2:
Where y'at Red - we need some pics and video.

I have an x-eng brake on my rangie and they are an excellent product.
I know that Simon has invested a lot of time (and I assume money) developing these. S.R's ethics suck.
I doubt the economics or practicallity for a small concern to patent and try to defend something like a disc emergency/parking brake.

RedRhino gets my vote, Equipe drips quality, has a price tag to match, is well built, beautifully welded, was out on the market before the others, scorpion build quality is crap, re-called trailing arms anyone? sagging springs? ill fitting bumpers etc etc
X brake, simple, well made, affordable and sold directly as well as through Scorpion, now a "modified and improved" design is being made and sold in competition to the original by Scorpion - so go figure.
I've fitted the original X brakes to our challenge cars as standard - it solves all the problems, its easy to fit and its built by a guy that loves and understands his Rovers not something I'd accuse Scrapiron of.
