Hey guys I have been trying to research recent experiences w/ OTT & the Kicker3 for the past week or so, but the search has really been on the fritz lately so I figure I will start fresh:

From my own personal experience (a few Years ago), OTT was going through some business 'growing pains' when I did some business with them. Excellent folks & fine product, but it was taking a very long time to turn orders around.

Have things improved over there w/ their operations & what do you all think about the Kicker3?

Thanks -

I dealt with them last about 8 months ago and know someone that dealt with them since.
Mind you, I am local to them but I was dealt with in one day. I needet a part for my Dana/toyota adapter that got chewed up by the stripped splines on my 22 year old yota T case and they hooked me up instantly.
If you want, tell me exactly what you need and I'll check what the lead time is...

It took me about 7mos to get my kicker3. Although it takes a while to get it the machine work is top notch and Ben is a super nice guy. I recommend them just expect it to take a while. Nice thing about it is that you don't need to be torn down while waiting for the part.
I don't understand why they don't have a shelf of them ready to ship since they are not job specific. They are all the same so they could have a stock ready to ship. That would be sweet!!!

Myself and a mate have been chasing them to get a reply .............but thats only via email .........................being all the way over here in OZtralia:cool2: makes it a bit difficult to get in contact ...they would have a sale of 2 kicker 4's if they would reply with a delivery frame time .

Although I dont want to be waiting an eternity ......but there products always seem top notch ...and i havent read a post yet where people have been complaining about there workmanship............

May have to source a custom jobby here in Oz .....but the clockability of the kicker 4 is a winner :smokin:

i delt with them 2 years ago, took 3 months for a kicker 2

i got the answering machine more often than someone on the line, my dad is getting a kicker 2 right now and its taking forever also....

they have a good product but they really need someone to answer the phone and to have a couple of each kicker on the shelf.

email will not get a quick response from them. calling is your best bet. i've always gotten through, but maybe that's just luck of the draw.

the work is second to none though, so don't give up too easily.

I ordered a Kicker 3, took about 2 months, hard to get a hold of but service is good. I got pics of a Kicker 3 in a Tracker if anyone's interested, can't post though.

ive talked to them several times on the phone, some but not much trouble getting through. I'm going to have them do a kicker 3 and they told me 8 weeks. They said they can do 1 a week and there are eight on the shelf right now, this was last week.

Thanx James yeah myself and my mate were using the addys that are displayed on there site ..we both tried different addys in hope of a reply ....

the only concern being so far away is that if we do eventually get in contact be that by email or an expensive phone call  we dont want to be waiting months and months to get em ......its a real shame that we dont have any1 here in oz that is a distributor for them as im sure even though the import costs and dollar change over bump the price up ....people over here would still pay the money to have an awesome product to which it certainly seems they have ....and quite a few of em

Any1 have there personal email addy ?

If a business is going to have a website then they should answer emails in a timely manner. It only takes a few minutes out of each day.

Just thought i'd btt this thread.

My dad has been waiting on his kicker 2 for almost 6 months now.... every two weeks or so he gets the same bs lines.

The project is pretty much at a stand still, its looking like the trips are going to get cancelled this year.

Just because their website is down doesn't mean they can't answer emails and phones.

I was going to say go through Jim as well. He is in the U.S. and it helps avoid the import taxes. A while back it took almost 9 months to get my Kicker3 and high steer arms. All the while they had been paid. I thought I was scammed because they avoided my frequent calls. After 6 months of the run-around I called more frequently (sometimes multiple messages daily) and got a lot more of the run-around when I'd reach them. I heard about broken arms, lost orders, horrible staff, then onto sicknesses and family issues. The fact that got me was they couldn't send my money back because they couldn't find my order! After 6 months of messages?

When I was notified I owed an additional $30 in import taxes and the package was at the UPS I was only half-excited to finally get my order. I was never informed I would have a tax to pay (although it makes sense). Maybe my circumstance was a rarity but I do a lot of business with people from all over and the only place I could say they are better than is RRO.

The product is great but my life had changed so much over all that time I never completed the project. It now sits in storage, it wouldn't have if they shipped out the items when they said they would.

I didn't like the way they treated a guy who spent a thousand hard-earned dollars. I hope they are different now although I believe once you're dishonest concerning business, the practices rarely change, just the excuses.

If it takes more than a month to get an item out of the shop then they do not deserve the business and should not sell the units in advance but should just take a down payment. Every business has some bad experieces with customers due to unforseen variables, but a business should learn from the experience. If you do plan on ordering something from them, make sure that they understand that if you do not receive the order within a certain period of time, you do not want the item or that you will only pay them a percentage down.

They are treating customers like every item is a customized item when it is not. (from the sounds of it)

Exactly where are you gonna order a Kicker3 from another manufacturer?

Their problem is that they are a bunch of Engineers/Machinists and do not have a strong sales/business support structure.

There have been a number of 'home brew' Sidekick/Samurai transfer case setups listed on this site.

A competent builder and machine shop should be able to achieve the same results.

I'm still here every day Danny, just dont post much. I'll get up there one of these days...
Hey, you know of any vw 1.9 turbo diesel engines laying around up there?

To stay somewhat on topic, I might swap the auto to a 5-speed to get driveability back, the Kicker3 made swapping in the auto easy and a blast to wheel, but I need another gear or two to get my highway performance back.

Then go find a competent builder. Ive only seen 1 homebrew that was married like the kicker3 that was plagued with a few issues. You want a divorced setup, go for it.
