hey, just wondering, what are the problems with removing the front fenders on a daily driver. been thinking about this to stop my tire eating issue.

depending on where you live...but if the law aint a problem then the only problem is your tires spit water everywhere and kick up pebbles. though my sami aint a daily driver, my xj is and took the flares off that. the cops havent said nothing but then again i live in chicago

cheers,

jj

It depends of your definition of "problems". It could be that it would remove the headlights and turn signals, fender flares, and a place for the hood to latch. All these could be solved by a tube front... or you can remove the inside wheel well and cut back the fender on the sides.

what i mean is will it cause any mechanical issues. i know i'm going to have to put my airbox, battery and window washer thing somewhere else.

also, if i wanted to put my battery behind the passenger seat in one of those black battery boxes, would i just need to bolt it down or would i need to run a vent tube out of the rig

Like what kind of mech issues? Air box, Batt, headlights and turn signals, and horn... I think thats all.

I'm doing it on project "super sami" I'm reinstalling the grill and headlights into the new tube front sections, but don't see any major mech. problems.

Anyone interested in a Tim Hardy modified front clip??? Lots of room for big tires. Its going to waste on my floor...lets make a deal!

My concern is with hood paint, if you are that king of guy that like your rig shining, because road stones wil chip out your paint and rust will come out.
I do not see any major failure on mechanics devices, but I do not see that is good for anternators to run full of little stones.

If you run any kind of mud/water I think it is a really bad idea...

I guess in Cali it is a no big deal but I wouldn't do it around here without making up some new inners.

Here's a pic from the front. The flairs are all the way to the top of the fenders, about 2.5 inches higher than stock. 35 with a regualr pring over fot easily.

I paid a lot to have the work done, but I need to get it off my floor. Its going to waste. $250? Thats half price.
