My clutch linkage has become a constant pain in the butt lately. It constantly pops apart breaking the idler bushings in the bellcrank. The one that breaks is the one nearest to the tranny. I cant figure out what is causing it.

I have replaced the following parts already:

Bellcrank:
Pivot points
Release rod.
Both idler bushings

Any suggestions. The only other thing that I can think of is the motor mounts. They dont appear to be bad. I cant se any real lift when the engine is put into gear. I am going to replace them anyway tomorrow. Anything else I should look at?

I have a 84 CJ7, T5, 258, No body lift

Thanks

Go hydro clutch linkage.

Use junkyard parts.
$cylinder CJ master
and whatever slave you feel you can adapt.

Then connect the two of them bleed the air out of the line and never deal with broken linkage again.

Check out your Motor mounts and tranny mounts.
I kept breaking my linkage because the torque rod bushing was shot and my motor mounts were no good.

A hydraulic linkage was the next step if I cant fix this today. I just replace the tranny mounts and the torque arm bushings here a few weeks age. I gues that the only thing left that will let the engine move is the motor mounts.

I had the same problem with my Jeep. I used an AA chain drive linkage, switched the clutch fork and haven't had any trouble since. Good luck...

Go hydraulic and save yourself lots of future grief( as well as lots of time rolling around in the dirt looking for the parts) ! I speak from experience--the Fatboy:beer:
