Alright guys, this is my first time posting on these forums. I've been watching them for some time, and I've been looking for something that I need to know about my truck. I've got a 78 F250 which is a 3/4 ton suspension. I'm looking for a suspension lift for it but haven't been able to find one for it. I'm sorry if this has been answered already, but I haven't seen it anywhere on here. I've tried looking for a lift for my truck, but I haven't found any companies that make one for my year, I've only found lifts for newer trucks. Can anybody point me in a good direction to go? Like I said, sorry if this has been answered already, but I haven't been able to find anything. Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot guys. I found the one on the Skyjacker website, I must not have looked real hard when I went to that site. Now the only question is, if I get the 4 in. one, what would have I have to do for steering, and what about my driveshafts? I don't know if my rear one will be long enough or not because right now it seems like it's too short for the lift small lift that it's got now. But will I need any longer arms for my steering at all?

you have a D44 front, so all you'll need is a new steering arm. the driveshafts should fit fine with only 4". FWIW, I trimmed my front fenders on the same truck and ran 38" Swampers on it. Just a little tire info for you.

AFAIK, there used to be a 6" and 8" kit from SkyJacker back in the day. Might try to find the 6.

Well I think I'm only going to get the 4 in. lift. Which steering arm would I have to replace?

Its the pitman arm, its the one right off the bottom of your steering box, you will also need to adjust your drag link to get your steering wheel straight again (or am I thinking of a coil spring set-up) I can't remember if the leaf spring steerings drag link goes across the front to the passenger side or back towards the driver side knuckle..........

the pitman arm. you need a drop pitman arm.

Skyjacker still makes the 6" lift for the lowboys. You can also get stock springs from a highboy and get about a 2-2.5" lift. As far as steering correction goes. the 77.5-79 lowboys have two options. A drop pitman arm and/or a drop drag link. I have a 4" lift and converted my highboy to the 77.5-79 power steering box and had to use both the drop pitman arm and drop drag link to correct my steering. Go back to the Skyjacker website, and in the section for the 77.5-79 F-250 lifts, it will say in the notes section what Skyjacker recomends for steering correction. I believe it says just the drop drag link for a 4" lift and the combination of the drop drag link and drop pitman arm for the 6" lift.

Go to the main forum here and head south til you run across the wanted section and post up what you are looking for. There is a good chance you get replies from people who have used parts you can get cheaply to piece together your lift.Someone may even have the whole thing.

I'm having a hard time finding the notes section on the Skyjacker website where it tells what type of steering correction I need.

The lift kit should come with everything needed to correct the steering....
