Where are the bolts that hold this thing on?

Engine side of the firewall. Couple behind the battery tray, one behind the valve cover and 1 or 2 somewhere between.

there are 3 stud bolts that come thru the firewall.

2 are around the battery tray area

the other is towards the middle of the firewall.

And once all the bolts are out, it is stuck really well around the air intake on the cowl of the tub, not bolted just stuck so dont be fooled. Be careful when you pry it off so you dont break it.

What year CJ? The 76-77 heaters differ from the 78-86 heaters. I've read that a Blazer fan motor and cage makes for better results on the later CJ heaters. When I rebuilt my 76 heater box, I installed a three speed fan motor which really moves the air. But face it...Most CJ's with the canvas tops, are hard to heat. And hard to cool. If you are looking for more heat, you might consider keeping the stock heater (with blower upgrades), and adding an auxillary one behind and between the front seats.
