Im lookin to get a plasma cutter. My needs are something with at least a 3/8 cut thickness and a fairly decent duty cycle. I have 220v and a compressor so those are big points either. I want to spend around $1000 what do you guys recommend?

If you complete the plasma cutter survey on the PBB home page, you may be able to win one....

Check out the Riland/Dayton/Mitech brands on Ebay. I bought one from the guy that goes by "divtech" on there and it works great for $650. They've been discussed before. www.parkermetalworking.com is his website. I have the 40 amper. I used it this last weekend to cut off the downpipe on my PSD, one hell of a lot easier than a sawzall. I like mine so far, and it does 3/8" easy. Reversible tips too.

So you have the one rated for 5/8"?? Hows the duty cycle on it, arc starting etc.?
