I have a 44' Haulmark enclosed triaxle trailer. What size wire should I run from the brake controller to the trailer? I usually haul close to 21,000# combined weight. Also, I had a few questions on the prodigy controller. How is it set up? Does it have a limit on how much you can tow with it? I have an old tekonsha now that is VERY jerky whenever the brakes are applied. Thanks

Because of the length of the trailer I would run 10ga. or 12ga. wire. You will lose some power going through that much wire, but 10ga. or 12ga. will do fine. The Prodigy is just about as "plug & play" as you can get. It does have a limit to what it can handle, but you won't be there. The old Tekonsha compared to the Prodigy. Well, they are both brake controlls, but that is about where it stops. The Prodigy is a night and day difference over the older controllers. If you get it, you won't be sorry.

I run 10 ga. The Tekonsha Sentinel that's in my F-250 was used in my two prior tow rigs also....works fine but occasionally requires relevelling and requires frequent tweaking for changing loads and road conditions. There's a significant learning curve to deal with for proper and safe operation of the older controllers.
I've run the Prodigy in my F-350 for the past 5 months. It's worked flawlessly right out of the box (for how I prefer a controller to operate) without any adjustment or leveling. Of course I verified the factory defaults after installation.
Here's the sheet on the Prodigy: Tekonsha Prodigy Owner's Manual (http://tekonsha.com/instructions/Prodigy%20Instruc%207689_H%20web.pdf)

10 gauge wire. For 44 feet you might concider 8 guage.
