Up date on my electrical problems with the 84j60 that has the brake light at a low glow at idle and goes away higher RPM. Today as I drove to work and pulled in to parking lot I tried several things one of which was to idle up to 1250 RPM and the charge light would blink on &off steadily but only at 1250 RPM but hears the intrusting part it would stop if I turned on any electrical item (lights, AC, brake light, blinker) so now I’m totally lost I not sure were to look any more.

alternator, regulator??

where did you all check?

I’ve so far had the alt checked at the auto parts store and it passed and all so had them check it on my rig the voltage was good and so was amperage and I also put in a new bat.

regulator?

My alt. Is a rebuild 55 amp with an internal regulator & I believe it is not adjustable but the voltage is steady

when regulators go they go, normally they don't work at all. Sounds like a bad ground, when you rev up maybe the vibrations work the connection a little better. I had a bad ground on a rear lamp connector a while back, drove me nuts for a few weeks till i finally paid the 28 bucks and bought a new one. Gotta love magic electrons :D

Wait, wait, did you say that the dash brake light glows with low power? That's just indicating that you're running low on brake fluid! Top it off, make sure that the connections for the sensor are all in good condition, that should be it.

My first FJ60 used to do that, I never had a factory manual (user or shop) for it, so I had to figure it out the hard way, the light would glow when I had the truck tilted sideways on offcamber trails, and that's when it hit me. I consulted with a couple of old Cruiserheads, and was told to check the brake fluid level. Give it a try, it can't hurt to top it off anyway!

Gotta agree with the low brake fluid option...easy to check. Also, it'd be worth checking the sensor wires to ensure they aren't worn/touching somewheres and giving you an intermittant ground.

The first thing I would look at would be the brake fluid. Also, make sure that the Master cylinder isn't leaking. If you have brake fluid on the sensor wires, it will create a bad ground and the light will come on. I had the same problem a few years back on my 40. :smokin:

Yes I thought it might be the brake system and disconnected the reservoir for the break system and the glow was still present .so I’ll look a little harder for an open ground
