: Anyone have experience with this plasma cutter?
Benzz0 03-21-2006, 10:28 AM http://tinyurl.com/ffjmt (ebay auction)
made in the USA with a pretty good warranty though...
I know it's you get ywhat you pay for...just wondering. I have my sites set on MillerMatic but this is not a bad price at all for $499 and cut's up to 3/4" (40Amp)
pmurf1 03-21-2006, 05:38 PM I bought one from him, he's local to me. Real nice guy, let me test run one of them. There's another thread on this from yesterday. I'm happy with mine, it does 3/8" no problem. That's a good price, I paid $650 for mine a few months ago.
planet x 03-21-2006, 06:51 PM Where do you see it is made in the USA?
rockdog57 03-22-2006, 08:07 AM Where can you get consumables for this? Do you have to get em from him? Or will another name brand consumable fit that machines torch? I don't do tons of cutting so a cheaper plasma is something I'm also interested in. But you get what you pay for keeps ringing in my ears every time I look at one of these less expensive plasmas. Is there anybody thats used one of these for a while? Is it working ok?
pmurf1 03-22-2006, 06:15 PM I just get the consumables from him. I think 5 tips are like $20, maybe less. I'm still on the ones he gave me with it. He's local here in the Phoenix metro, so it won't be a problem for me. The electrodes are reversible, something I've never seen on another brand. Burn the electrode down and pull the ceramic sheild off and flip it 180. Start cutting again. That's a damn nice feature especially for guys like me who just point it at things and let it cut whatever gets in the way. I'm not real good with finesse on it yet. The torch switch and the torch itself are a little cheesy, but livable. The switch is zip tied on and can be used with your thumb up or index finger down. It's almost like a TIG torch in looks. Dayton rebadges them as their own, so Grainger might even be able to get the tips?
Benzz0 03-23-2006, 01:00 PM Thanks pmurf! I think you just made him another sale :D

I just bought one this morning. Guys seemed real cool and he has a website with demonstration videos and stuff. I got the cutter and an extra set of consumables for $580 shipped to my door should be here monday, they said theyd ship fast so I'll update you guys then.
I think the consumables are interchangeable between this one Mitech, Riland, Dayton and others. Anyway there were sets of consumeables on ebay last night for $30 that had everything.

Yeah I had that thought too until i looked at my el-cheapo mig welder that welds awesome and has been doin so for 10 years for 1/2 miller or lincoln price. This thing specs out the same as a $1900 "brand name" plasma. To me its like crap I've had problems with brand name plasmas and is piece of mind worth $1400 especially when this unit is warrantied.
Benzz0 03-23-2006, 03:09 PM cool Mac..Thanks - and please keep us updated! I will use you as my guinea pig :D:D:D

KYOTA 03-23-2006, 03:51 PM looks alright but not really diggin the funky trigger on the torch
John N 03-23-2006, 08:21 PM Glad to help you test it if you get it Benzo..............
rusted 03-23-2006, 10:42 PM For that kind of money I could spend a decent amount of time and effort to modify the switch setup. Does it come with at least a periph schematic and a block diagram? I'd be interested in that for sure.
But again, for the $$, I could use to learn a testicle switch if I had to.
macj98 03-24-2006, 03:50 PM UPS says mine will get here tuesday.
If youd like to see the cutting in action, this is the guy I bought mine from and he has video on his site.

Moab Austin 03-25-2006, 11:31 PM how can the electrode be reversible?? got pics?
the wir must not go through the electrode?
how about heavy use? (like operating 4hrs a day) anybody had one long enough to tell?
are they machine compatible?
I mean all the circuitry inside can be taped one way or another..but do they have voltage feedback?
