They have the ZF, cause thats the brand they are, they are used in agriculture applications and in construction equipment, also I do believe that Bigfoot runs them now instead of rockwells.

i think if you want to run it in the rocks you're gonna need some kind of suspension. and yeah, its a 6.2/400/208

side note- what is the military designation for those?

lots of monster trucks run zf axles.

they are zf but they are not the same axles as a monster truck, they will be great as long as you dont want to go anywhere fast. they have a plantery hubs that have been reported to have a 20:1 overall ratio. are you sure its a flipped 208. there is a ford d-side 208 and a lot of better cases to you than flipping a 208 on its lid.

and yes all the CUC-Vs had t400 trannys

yeah but those m-series were all regular trucks. these aircraft tugs had the ZF axles (no suspension), usually are SWB (unless my eyes deceive me), and only have one seat inside, and the special aircraft tug body.

the normal cucv's had the D60/14b, regular seats, and normal beds.

Drivetrain is the same on both, 6.2/th400/np208

every time these pop up I try to figure out the military designation but no one ever knows. if they are a cucv series, that is cool.

PM Blacksheep10. He bought a tug not too long ago, in North Carolina (I believe). He torched it apart before even loading it. He'll have all your answers on this one.

yeah, bought one kind of like it, but woodywag has too much faith, don't have that many answers. I bought the old style tug, yes, very short wheelbase. these had hydro and 4 wheel steer, but the whole tug was made by psi. even the axles have psi cast into them. I think that when they made the cucv's tugs, the psi ones (like I have) went out of date. mine have planetaries and a 17.44:1 ratio in the axle accomplished by a 4.5:1 planetary hub and a high 3ish gear ratio. I wish I would have found one of the cucv ones instead of the older ones, but hey, this one was 385 with tax.:flipoff2:
zf's, yes some monster trucks run zf axle parts, most run clarke planetaries and a center section out of a bus or 2 ton or so. The ones that you have are made for some weight, but don't plan on them being made for 1000 plus horses. The truck itself is heavy so that it doesn't spin all over the place trying to make it onto the tarmac. you need to lighten it up and throw some real leaves of links and coils under there to make it perform in the off road world. Weld the spiders if it is trail only (probably is with 20:1 in teh axle:laughing: and wheel the shit out of it until something comes apart. axle parts......you are on your own on that one. maybe google would be more help when searching for zf stuff. good luck

I see brand new ZF axles all the time. They have rows and rows of them at the local John Deere plant that I deliver to. I know we also ship parts to ZF Industries all the time.

gota love that front bumper! you might want to look into suspension before you get lockers...i hear that those things have rubber blocks betweem the axles and frame. go over to steelsoldiers.com i think someone had one of those recently they might be able to help you out, some realy knowledgeable guys over ther...wylie
