I live in California and was planning to get my w56 (190,000miles) rebuilt by Marlin. Does anybody know any good reasonable alternatives to his shop? Also i used the searched button already.

the auto shop i used to work at sent all the trannies there as well as others but as for my self i have not had the need to have a tranny rebuilt. try calling local shops and asking for a good tranny shop.

I think there is soemhting called Transmission exchange??? Brandon had the link on his site for rating vendors...maybe hell chime in...

I dont like to talk smack about Marlin, but I waited 4 months on a tranny from him. Havent driven it but Im sure it will run like a top, but 4 months....

I looked on that Transmission Exchange site and it said they wanted like 150 for what i paid 500 from marlin for (L52 I believe).

I dont know how good they are or anything but dang, is that not a good price!

1 year warranty with no offroad use...
