Hey all this came up in a discussion a while back and i had plans to do it. Well i did a few weeks ago and am finally posting some pics..

This is my FRONT leafs on a YJ w a Chevy D60 front axle..

I was running a stock YJ pack with the XJ 2nd leaf just under the YJ main. Worked well, but i lost some height and i had more pinion wrap then i care for.

I cut part of the large main eye out and put the XJ main over the YJ main and line up the center holes. Its take a minute to line them up uncompressed but its not hard. On the other end, I sliced a 2" piece of exhaust tube to make a thin spacer, I then put some heat on it and pulled it on over. I trimed it back to where I wanted it... Here's what I ended up with...

It rides about the same a little tighter, definlty less wrap when stabing the brakes.. I think the large main eyes are making some noice as the leaf flexs, i may need to pull them out some...

a few of the bending... nothing special

edit: oh ya i did feel like folding of the leaf clamps so i just drilled them and installed some 1/4" bolts that helped some too...

Nice and cheep!I may try this.I have stock YJ leaves in front of my CJ-7.The rear is stock YJs also with a second YJ main added along with a second YJ second. This works in the rear along with a traction bar.I do need to beef up the front some.

Looks good. Did the same thing with a toyota mil wrap leaf on my xj packs up front. Redrilled the centerpin hole instead of the heating/bending you did.

we were just talking about doing the same thing this weekend. Looks good/helpful. Still no substitute for a traction bar, but definitely a good bandaid.

I have never had any success or heard of anyone that redrilled their center pin holes. Your leaf springs will crack(the ones you redrilled the center hole). I have never met 1 person who doesn't have them that crack, and I've seen people ream out center holes larger and relocating them. Good luck with it.

I just redrilled the mil. wrap leaf hole so that the eye would be in the right spot. Used the leafs for about a year and no cracking. I agree that if all the leafs were re-drilled there could be problems.

I havent had any issues using the opposite setup -
RE 3.5" XJ springs mixed with Sky Jacker 4" YJ springs to give my XJ 6" of lift in the rear...

I re-drilled all 3 YJ packs in the rear and have been running this for about a year...
