: Anyone tried this, long arm?

This idea popped in my head a while back,
has anyone tried to mount their long arms
up inside the frame?
Seems like this might work, and would do
away with the bracket hanging down.
I know the frame would need a little bracing
along the sides, maybe even a c-channel
dropped down from the top of the frame.
This would really make things smooth.
I know Tera uses a bracket that runs along
the inner side of the frame but the arms
are funky with the bend in them.
I wonder how long of a slot would be needed
on the bottom side to clear the arms with
a good amount of flex?
This seems fairly simple to me, anyone
tried it or have any thoughts about it?
Or am I way behind?

If you can mount it double shear and stay away from everything else, why not??? As it is, on my school bus, I'm about a bee's dick away from the exhaust on full stuff....

If you are talking about a TJ, I looked into doing that last year. As far as I could see, the front arms would hit the frame when they cycled up (The frame bends in). To take care of this, you would need to move the mounts on the axle in about 4". On the short side it would run into the diffy. On the rear axle, it didn't look like it would be as much of a problem.

I said screw it, and went with the RE kit. Their new Tcase skid only drops down 1.5" and the arms mount up into it.

There's no reason you couldn't do it. Just be ready to deal with the issues that will probably arise if/when you do.

Probably the best way to avoid the most issues would be to junk the stock frame and axle brackets and start from scratch with new geometry, new bracketry, and new arms.

Just be ready to start doin' a bunch of math and geometry to design a suspension that's gonna' work properly off road and on. It really is not as simple as the Indiana boys make it out to be ... unless you plan on staying below the posted limits.
