Dayum, already miss the jeep...

****

Time to sell my baby. Lots of time and effort, blood, sweat, and tears have gone into this rig. Definitely a lot of blood... I plan to build a buggy this summer or this coming winter, and I am not using my jeep nearly as often as I would like. This has been built for trail use however it is legal to drive on the road, passes emissions with flying colors, and has a good ride considering its size.

Fullsize 1-ton axles with 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern. The jeep is currently on a set of roller tires that I use when I do the emissions.

Broomfield is between Denver and Boulder Colorado.

I will try and get additional pictures tomorrow during the daylight, however with my work schedule I normally leave before the sun rises and I get home after it has already set.

Feel free to call me with any questions as well.

I kept the axles full-width. Front is 67" WMS and rear is 65" WMS.

FYI, I'll be cleaning up any surface rust and putting fresh coats of paint on a few of the suspension and armor this weekend from the rock-rash. Nothing big, it'll just look better when I show it.

When you're under there take some pics of the suspension. I'd like to see it. Do you have any bigger pictures than the ones you posted? Did you extend the wheelbase in the front as well? I'm assumig you did as I see you fabbed new coil buckets. Did you have to move the steering box?

Thanks for all the replies guys. It has definitely been a great rig, and I am sure I'll shed a few tears when I see it go, but it's the most logical thing to do at the moment, and I'll build the buggy for the wife and kids soon. :D

I don't remember all the specific modifications or measurements for the jeep off hand, and all my documentation is currently packed in boxes. I believe I moved the front around 4" - 6" and the rear was also somewhere around 4" - 6". I was going to cut the rear of the frame and tube parts of it out, and push the rear axle back about 2" more.

Since the jeep has full hydraulic steering I didn't have to move the steering box because I no longer use the stock one. I did, however, fab up a mount and put the orbital valve in the stock steering box location.

Any more questions just ask - would like to sell this to a good home that will treat it right. Built to take the abuse, but definitely performs with finesse.

Do you have any bigger pictures of the rig complete with tires and wheels? The pictures you posted were tiny!

RockcrawlingTJ
03-24-2006, 12:39 PM
I am sure I have additional images, but I didn't think they were all that small? The really small ones are the first album, which was not my camera so I had no control over those. The other ones I have the fullsize images on another computer, but when I upload them they shrunk I guess (imagestation). I'll see if I can repost them via photobucket.

Definitely - also a note - I changed the winch from XD9000i to HS9500i, I remembered incorrectly in the original post.

I'm not looking to take a payment plan, sorry.

Here's additional photos I took today after I gave her a quick rinse and a few touch-ups with the suspension and armor paint. The pictures shrunk again, so if anyone is able to host and post the original size images I will e-mail them to you. If you have any questions about what you see just ask and I'll answer.

I added a few interior pictures to the album on Photobucket. I have not had time to clean the interior yet, it's been parked for a number of months, so the pictures show all the dust. Also, you will notice the driver seat does have the typical tears in it. I have had the MFG replace that seat 3 times already, each time they started to tear in the same locations. I was going to put Corbeau or Baja seats in there so I stopped having them replace it. I have two seat covers like the one on the passenger seat I used just to cover the tears and to reduce further damage.

As a reminder, the jeep looks killer with real meats on them (before trimming front fenders and putting the stinger back on)...

Can this be driven say 20 miles to the trails?

RockcrawlingTJ
03-30-2006, 04:59 PM
Sorry for the delay, kidney stones and knee surgery yesterday.

Yes, the jeep can be driven on the road and on the highway, however it has full hydro steering with a single ended ram and non-return to center orbital valve. If you are not familiar with the setup or handling characteristics I would suggest not driving on the highways until you are familiar with the jeep.

I wonder how long it took before those 46" mickeys trashed those stock 60's??

RockcrawlingTJ

They didn't break a single thing on Sunday actually. Finesse wheeling, and a well build rig. ;)

They plan to upgrade to the chromo 35-spline shafts soon though.
