65 rock rat

Can anyone tell me if they have ever heard of (or been involved with) putting a 65 fleetside body on a 77 - 91 GM 1 ton frame? I am going to build a new truck and use the new cummins 610 diesel for power. I want to use the Dana 60 front and rear axles to handle what the cummins can put out. In order to minimize modifications I plan to use a late model 1 ton frame. I don't think the old 1/2 ton frame can handle what I have in mind. I've built several trucks and cars in the past but have never attempted something of this magnitude.
Thanks

I seen some one running around North little rock with a 65 sitting on a 90's frame but I never talked to him.
I would sit the cab on the frame and see what it will take to get it to fit. I would thing it would actually fit.

I had a 1965 short stepside on a 77 blazer frame. I didn' build it, but the rad supports had a 4 inch block, and I believe(but am not certain) that the stock mounts were used for the 4 cabmounts(stock framemounts to mounts on 65 cab. The bed was attached using 1 to 2 inch spacers welded to the frame. The biggest problem that I had was that the front tires sat a little far back in the wheelwells. The rears did too, but it had 8 inch rear springs:barf: so it never flexed. I would do the 52 inch spring swap in the front see where that puts you.
edit: as I recall, the 73-87 trucks had a longer wheelbase, so you will probably have to shorten the rear of the frame behind the cab.

Give Jess a call at High Angle. He has one on a k-frame.

I just did that with a 69 chev 1/2 ton 2wd p/u, put it on a 78 chev suburban 3/4 ton 4wd. I don't know if the 65 body style is close to the 69 body style frames.
