I have heard a couple of time that the 2L's had problems with blowing head gaskets, especially when adding a turbo. Anyone have any experiences with this? I'm about ready to assemble an 84 2L and am curiose of sealing issues with adding a Turbo to this higher compression (22.5-1) diesel. I know the 2LT's run 20.5-1 Have you guys seen any problems???

Lots of guys over here in Aus do this conversion and of the ones i know this hasnt been a prob the main prob is that the 2L heads crack real easy around the valve area.

going through this at the moment as i cracked mine awhile back.

The 2l and the 2lt have a different head, ideally what you want is the 2L with an aftermarket turbo or the 2lt with a 2L head.

Nick,

What was the cause of your head cracking? Did it over heat or was it just fatigue?? Did yours crack in between the valve seats?

the 2L and 2Lt heaeds are rated for different compression - the 2L is rated higher than the 2Lt
