A few weeks ago, there was a lot of posting about wheelspacers and offset rims to keep tires off the frame. I needed new rims anyway, so I got 5 custom rims from Rockstomper for $50 each(supposedly - every time i talked to them the price seemed to go lower, ended up being only like $249 shipping incl. and they arrived at my door way sooner than i thought). The difference i noticd about these over my old rims where that when the front tires encounter obstacles, the wheel rips out of your hand much easier. Not bad, just enough to notice. I notice the wheel trying to turn during braking on the pavement sometimes too. Just for anyone that wanted to know. The same thing would happed wth wheel spacers too. I thought about doing the IFS rear axle swap with spacers in front, but if i want better brakes im not going to upgrade to bigger drums, I'll just put disks in. Anyway, I was very happy with the rims from rockstomper, and their customer service was killer, especially when they sent my rims after like 1 week. anyway hth:smokin:

What backspacing did you get?
I bought some 15x10s with 2" backspacing from Willamette Wheel in Portland (now out of buisiness) for $45 each. Ordered them on friday afternoon and picked them up on Monday afternoon. They are the Daytona style.
I also will be running a wide track (IFS years) rear axle.
But now that Willamette Wheel is out, I have to find a new source for beadlocks... and if I go with RockStompers, I would want 8" wide rimms so they end up being 9.5"
I guess I am just screwed...

See if Rockstomper can make you a set from 15x7's then they will be 8.5 :D
I would think that any advrse affect yuo see from a wider stance would be the same with wheels and spacers. The basic principle here is that yuor axle and tire combo is made wider, causing more leverage to the wheel and other components.
As for the braking...Im not sure about that.

the braking sounds like one caliper is working less than optimal, and the offset wheels may be showing that to you by pulling to one side, the side it pulls to is the better caliper.
as far as rocks go, yeah there is more leverage there now, with spacers or rims, just keep your thumbs out.

the backspacing on my rims is 1.75"
as for the braking, it doesn't pull to one side all the time, but if im braking and on side hits a bump or rut, it tends to wanna steer more in that direction.

Duh!:flipoff2: There is more leverage acting on the steering, so it rips outta your hands easier. Also, bearings and seals have more preasure on them from the increased leverage, and will wear out a lot quicker.

I just got two-inch wheel spacers put on on each side of my front axle. 4-inches wider overall and it drives and handles a lot better. Didn't effect my breaking...breaks the same it did w/o the spacers :D

I didn't use spacers when I did my SAS. My wheels are 3.5" back spaced, and just *barely* cleared the calipers. As in, "by about a millimeter" kind of cleared.
