I have a 89 K3500 Chevy 4x4 that was equipped with a TBI 454. I want to swap in a TBI 350 out of an 1987 K5 Blazer. Will the existing 454 TBI wiring harness plug in for the 350? I imagine I will have to swap computers. What are the differences in regards to the swap between these different years and different engines. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

If you do have a need for the 454 TBI throttle body/injectors I would be interested.

(Use a atleast the chip or whole computer from the 350 setup, to get the tune ~ right)

I will hedge on the "100% it will work" line.

The computers will be different but the plugs for the computer will be the same.

Also, there is a good chance that plugs for the TPS sensor may be different. You also might find that there are different sensors between the two.

Already sold the TBI before I swapped in the warmed up carbed big block that I can't afford to drive anymore.:(

That is good news. Is there anything else I need to know? It can't be that simple.

The computors have the same part number from the dealer, proms may be different though.

you will have to put in a new exhaust at least eh front 1/ 2 of it and of course a O2 sensor
and dont forget to factor the engine length difference as well for the braided fuel lines
good luck

Dood, there is no way in hell that those two computers can be the same....
that makes no sense and is very misleading for someone who doesn't know any better...

I just put a 454 in place of my 350 in my 92. It depends on what service number your computer is, which decides whether or not they are the same. If its a 1227747 it just needs a different prom chip. Look at www.tbichips.com, this website has a lot of info and a list of computer service numbers. Also the knock sensor module (ESC) is different and the IAC connector is different but you can buy a pigtail and splice it in. Other than that it should work good.

There were two different ECM's used. Light duty versions ran the 7747 while the HD versions ran the 8747. Both use the same ecm's, but the prom programming is different and the injectors are different. I'd also check the fuel pressure to make sure it's the same.

Won't be THAT much of a gas saver, especially since the 350 is gonna get WORKED pullin around that heavy truck all day.

well, my parents have a gm 8.1l allison HD2500 crew that gets 10mpg and a suburban with a 5.3 460le that is roughly equal in weight which gets 18mpg, so there is quite a bit of difference unloaded. towing a 8K lb camper, they get about the same.

My 75 fj40 on 38.5 tsls with a stock I6 and 5.29 gears gets about 10.... so I bought a honda accord, 30mpg and nearly maintenance free:D . gas prices as high as they are justify having a second vehicle for me.
