My power steering sometimes will just quit working. It will just lock up and stop workin. Seems to be no patttern to when it will do it. I have a new/used steering box on it and a new pump as well as new lines. It was doing it before all the parts were replaced. Any ideas?

Also the box and pump were leaking like ma anyway so thats part f the reason they were replaced

If you changed the box and the pump and it still does it then it is something else causing it. What about the kingpins/balljoints or the steering column.

Ball joints steering linkages wheel bearings all tight. Will have to check the steering shafts next time it does this to me.

I think it's the steering gear, or air in the system.

air in the system as Nobody said.

It does it maybe twice a week. I have about 700 miles on it sence I put all of that in. Is there a bleeder somewhere. the fluid level is staying up and not getting low. It also doesnt matter if the fluid is hot from driving it or cold from sitting all night.

Put it up on jack stands and move the wheels back and forth a bunch and see if the level goes down. That seems to be the best way to bleed these things.

Did that about 10 times right after I installed it then drove back to school. Just hope it decides not to lock up on me again when I am in Moab this summer.

10 times isn't nearly enough. I had to do this all the time on hummers. Get the front in the air and crank the wheels back and forth a bazillion times with the engine off. Let it set for 10 minutes, crank it a few more times. Then start the engine and crank it a few times. That should do the trick.
