I am helping a buddy out the problem is the jeep will crank but its not getting fuel changed relays and fuel pump still didnt work. Is there a pressure switch and where is it. Is there a fuel cutoff switch and where is it. it is a 1996 Cherokee with an inline 6 with 96k miles
Check the wiring to the pump, it should be getting a 1.5 second pulse when you first turn the key to the "on" posisiton, to prime the system. If you are not getting the pulse, then problem is most likely in the wiring, if you are, I would try another pump.
Another thing that I have seen, is when people are putting a lift on their XJ, and they have to heat those rear main eye bolts on the leaf springs. That bolt on the driver side, is just on the other side of where JEep runs the fuel pump power wire inside the Jeep. If you get that bolt hot enough, I have seen them melt the wire to the pump.
Good luck,
Ryan
