Posting up some pictures of my build up. Jeep is mostly done with a few odds and ends to button up. Took about a year and a half to get this far. I have posted a few pictures in other threads, but thought I would add some details.

I did a few things a little different than I have seen on most others. One is the way I started with the frame. I cut the frame off about a third the way back and raised it and re-welded and braced it some. This made room for long lower links that didn't hang below the frame.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f36/401ton/DSCF0061.jpg

I used a YJ frame. I cut all the brackets off it to have a clean sheet to start with. Too many times I have tryed to use what was there and spent more time cobblin up instead of really getting what I wanted. Probably could have just bought another stick of rect tube.

Up front I cut off the round tube of the YJ frame, used some basic 2X4 and holed it for the fairlead and winch rope.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f36/401ton/2006_0318JeepOutside0017.jpg

At the rear, I ended up with the body being as low as I could get it to clear the Atlas so the frame going straight back from upper bend was actually higher than the body. I decided to have the frame go arround the body, a little different than most, maybe even get some protection from it. Had to notch out for the hinges to be removed, but otherwise it wasn't a big deal.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f36/401ton/2006_0318JeepOutside0010.jpg

I used 3" TJ coils at the rear. Front started with 3" TJ coil, but needed 2" spacers to level it out.

Front is wishbone with homemade pivot with RE ends and leaf spring bushings.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f36/401ton/2006_0315WishboneGussets0001.jpg

Rear is 39" long double X links. RE ends on all.

Some Stats:
24" skid clearance
33" rocker clearance
35" front frame/bumper
34" rear frame/bumper

Did all the tube work too. My tube fenders andf rear quarter gaurds are a little different.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f36/401ton/2006_0309Jeep0002.jpg

Roll cage is made to use back seat, so I have as much "triangulation" as its going to have for now. I did add some extra kickers at the B pillar that give it about 5" extra triangulation there. They are good handles too. frame is all tied into cage and rockers.

Made everything at home in my 15' wide garage.
Painted it there too. 20 year old black enamel cage paint and base coat clear coat for the body. Rustoleum everwhere else.

I have more pictures if you want to see anything particular. :flipoff2:

Thanks for the reveiws!

Maiden wheelin' voyage is this Saturday. Theres only one rock pile, the rest is hills and trails.

Rocks should not be a big problem though. I don't have much for "rock magnets" underneath.

Lovin the 435 hooked to the AMC. If you check out my buggy build you'll see I did something similar. Autos are for fairys :flipoff2:

I'm sure auto's are nice for some, but I have had this 435/401 combo for about 8 years and I really like it. I like it even more now that I have the Atlas 4.3 because it brings gears a little closer together. When crawling with the TBI all you have to do is tap the gas and it just keeps going. When you want to hammer it, you don't have any power getting robbed by the auto.

I have the bicycle hand throttle and the dual Swagelock setup for any steep hills just for fun.

I never had an ARB or D-60 front before. Now with about 10 degrees caster and those 2 items I can make much tighter turns even with 110" WB than with the old Dana 30/Detroit setup and 95" WB.

First wheelin trip is today so I'll try to get a few action shots and post them.

Wheelin pictures of first trip out. The rig wheelin awesome! 42's and 110" WB is great even on muddy slick hills. Got some cooling issues, but will fix them next week.

Ram mounts are welded to the inner C's with an extra kicker in the center. Best place I had to put them. I used Station's bolt on mounts with hex head bolts. I'll try to get more detail pictures for you.

i would love to see some more detailed pics of the steering ram mounts!!

Steering mounts:

I have the outer supports welded on a different plane than the center post. Not much, but hope it gives it a little more strength. I used 1.75 DOM .120 wall. Tryed to use .250 wall, but bent a bender pin and couldn't get a decent looking bend with the torch. Did use the .250 wall for the center support. The outers are welded to the Dedenbear C's. That was the only good place I had.

Its on jack stands because my spring spacers didn't stay put and now I see an inner axle seal leaking.
