Hey I just looked at the thread you replied on with the HP 60-14bolt hybrid and noticed the u bolts are gone. Could you post a clearer pic of that? I want to do this on my 14bolt but havent givven it any thought yet. I will need to by next week. Thanks Sean.

I'm sure y'all were waiting for someone to ask, so here it goes. Is that half " of clearance loss a U-Bolt offers worth the time, effort, and possible safety issues?
I can't see any benefit (other than clearance which I think is a non existant issue)

I dunno. For some reason it just does not look as safe as good old fashioned ubolts. It seems it would stress the four bolts and the welds at the perch just too much.

Well I think it comes down to personal opinion. There is a much greater chance of the u-bolt threads getting stretched and stripping out and have to replace them(supposed to anyway)every time at 40bucks a set. I think 8 grade8 5/8thsx5 bolts are a hair cheaper. Clearance is not an issue with me and I know with my level of experience welding I have nothing to worry about with coming apart. I dont think it is for everyone though and u-bolts are great for the masses. In fact I will still run them in the front because of lack of experience with welding cast.
Thanks 66cjdean and rockranger for the pics and all my questions were answered.

The ones thar are on a spring pad are also welded to the housing so the load is spread to the tube as far as the push pull goes. I hate u-bolts so this was my fix and no it isn't for everyone.
