AR Rifles in Other Calibers

I'm thinking about what to get for a new rifle. I want something in a semi-auto "assault rifle", to carry in the truck with me daily. I have been debating the pros & cons of various platforms and calibers.

When I look at AR's, I wonder about the availability of parts and ammo for non-standard calibers (6.5mm, 6.8mm, 7.62x39mm, etc). I don't think I need a .308 M4 carbine, but a 5.56mm seems *just a little* underpowered.

Who has 468 Socom? Other rifles? I'd like some firsthand reports.

In an AR, I'd like it with a 16" barrel (registered SBR is OK too), A3 flattop receiver, and collapsible stock.

First, they are not assault rifles...that's leftist propaganda. Try "Semi-auto carbine" If you want your rifle in case of a "civil uprising" .308 is the best choice. I have several in .223 and they are great for up to 200 yds. but there's nothing like a 500 yard hit to give you goose bumps! Stick with a NATO round for availability and economy.

I like the .223 and .308 calibers both.But with a 30rd clip you should not haft to worry much.Here is a link to a cool gun that uses the m-16 clips and can also be shot while folded up...:D ..that sounds like a plus for you.
