: Do they make these?

I need a die stock, but Not a traditional one. I need to be able to chase down threads in a fairly confined area. Think of it like a deepwell socket for a die, but I cant use a socket for 2 reasons. The die needs to be right at the top of the stock, and its a round die. I know I can get an adapter, but I would like to avoid this route because the space is sort of tight. Also, It dont mind having to turn down the holder a little bit.

Thanks

If you had a hex die would a wrench and or regular socket work? That's why I like the hex dies better, they don't slip like a round die, and if there's not room for a die handle (stock) you can use a wrench or socket. I don't know of any die stock that is similar to what you are looking for, most are the 2 handle style. If it's a common size you maybe able just buy/borrow a hex die cheaper than looking for a specialized die stock. Some thread chasing sets are hex shaped, are smaller than the usual 1" diameter die, and are about the same size as a standard nut, so that might be an option also.

Yes, a hex die would work, but Im using a round threading die because I need to be able to control how much this die actually cuts. I dont want to make these threads any loser than i have too.

I know I can use an adapter for this, but I dont think that a socket on top of the adapter will fit.

Get a hex adjustable die, otherwise, you're gonna have to make the die stock you've described. I had to make a similar tools for my hex dies, FWIW, it works great!
