: Update on Kate's "Spa" month...
wngrog 04-07-2002, 05:01 PM Kate is in the Spa getting ready for Moab.
I have installed new front fenders, rear 1/2 doors, a tool compartment in the floor, a mechanical emergency brake, a TJ fold and tumble seat and a few small goodies.
Left to do are the 3/16" steel rear 1/4 panels, line lock and a fresh coat of paint.
Moab 20 days and counting :D :D :D :D

wanabecruisen 04-07-2002, 06:50 PM Nolen, what's the 911 on that storage box? I have a project rig with the rear bed area doin the "wave" and was thinking about something like that.

Do you mean 411? :D
If so, it is a storage box and cover I got from Bass Pro Shop. (Boating edition)
Plastic, ABS cover ($45) and the 12 x 24 plastic bin was another $45.
It holds my jumper cables, spare nuts/bolts, 2 spare Yokes, ujoints, ujoint repair kit, and some other spares parts.
I am really paring down what I carry on the trail and leaving the majority of my spares in the toolbox on my trailer.:D
Jason M 04-07-2002, 08:13 PM Man, if that box is as strong as it looks I have to give bass pro shops a call. It would be really nice to keep the winch supplies and my welding equipment in it.
How deep is it?
BJ On Roids 04-07-2002, 09:01 PM that sotrage box is similar to an idea i was contemplating....and i was contemplating rear seats, or convert the whole "bed" area into a storage box, and just somehow make a lid for it........
man that storage compartment is AWESOME
and hows your recovery points!!! BUILT!!
you will only use them to tow others out im sure!! (or to roll you back over)

Jason,
the "hole" is only about 12" deep. It is fairly stout, but if I had the skills I would use the hatch from bass pro and build a larger box out of metal for the bottom.
This is a start and it works for me. Ever since I upgraded my axles I have been able to cut down about 200# on the spares I take on the trail!
wanabecruisen 04-08-2002, 04:52 AM Sorry Nolen. Yes, I should have done the 411 thing not the 911 thing:rolleyes: I guess I had 911 on the brain as I had just done the CPR refresher class the day before. Thanks for the info - I'll look it up later today.
fj40guy 04-08-2002, 08:00 AM Are the fenders CCOT?
Could you post a photo from UNDERNEATH on that storage box? Ya, I like it... Looks like it is above the diff... not a problem on your rig, but not enough room on mine.
Tom :usa:
wngrog 04-08-2002, 08:16 AM Tom,
The fenders are CCOT, but the fronts have been trimmed flat.
The box hangs down the same as an aftermarket fuel tank so yes, it would work fine on your vehicle.
I just had to relocate the muffler.
Tankota 04-08-2002, 01:18 PM I noticed you had a receiver hitch on the back...was it on there when you got the cruiser and now is it just for looks:D or do you actually tow things with that beast (yes I said kate is a beast
:p )
wngrog 04-08-2002, 02:01 PM FUNNY! Yeah, that hitch was there when I bought the Cruiser and instead of cutting it out, I chose to keep it in case I ever need to haul something on the farm.
What I use it for now is an anchor point for my tow strap. I put one end of the strap in there and run the reciever pin through the loop and that holds it in.
I always keep it hooked up when I am wheeling to save time.
Kate is offended that you called her a beast, I, however, am not ;)
skinny 04-08-2002, 08:16 PM looks good nolen, keep it up, that thing is lookn great:smokin:
