Here's some of the beginning shots of the half doors that I'm making. So far I've only gutted both doors and cut the passenger door. Now I've got to start welding some sheetmetal to cap it off.
A comparison of the cut door and the stock door side by side.

The door as it will be when it's done.

An interesting shot which will give a good idea of just how much lower the half door really sits compared to the stock door.

To seal them off I used sealing foam , the stuff you use for filling cracks/holes etc in buildings. Once it has set it is easy to trim and sand to a flat finish it's waterproof and light

They are Jeep CJ mirrors from JC Whitney. The part number is 12ZX7773A and they ran me about $50 for the pair after shipping.
I've got some more pics (http://home.attbi.com/~rokzuki/mirrors.htm) of them on my website. There's a pic that shows just how the mounting bracket was modified. The passenger side mirror needs a slight adjustment with a pair of pliers to angle the mirror so you can see out of it.
I run them year round either with or without the doors since they mount to the body side of the door hinges. The only thing I don't like about them is that they vibrate a little bit.
