: Fox Front Shocks
ABQ-TJ 03-26-2006, 06:13 PM Got my Poly Coilover Bracket kit and Fox shocks installed today. Took the better part of the day, with all the cutting and figuring out what to move, etc.
The ride with just the fronts swapped out is amazing!

Next will be the rears. We fabbed up some lower mounts and will be using the Ford Shock Towers for the upper in the frame. Should take another good day of work. I can't wait to check it out with all four corners done!!
Got any pictures of the engine bay, I know you have to move some shit around, post em if ya got em. Looks good.:grinpimp:

Here's one...

and the filter from the ricer section at autozone I had to use to replace my stock airbox....no one had a regular K&N, so I bought the $20 kind. I'll see how it does, should be ok, though.

Pics are in his link.
It was a tight fit and took some time to move some of the stuff. It wasn't to bad really.
ABQ-TJ 03-26-2006, 08:58 PM Oh....all I really HAD to remove or relocate was the airbox. I did have to take out my OBA stuff for a bit to get everything in. Then we had to remove the washer fluid reservoir while we drilled for the straps on the shocks. And had to watch all the wires and vacuum lines while cutting out for the brackets. It really wasn't bad, but having another set of eyes up top while one cuts from below made it easy.
Looks good thanks for the extra pix and the links...Ill have to put that on my next list of mods.
troyman 03-27-2006, 06:23 AM Work looks good and the brackets from PolyPeformance are super nice. Question though, that bracket setup is for a coil-over or an airshock setup. Is the cross-bracing really necessary for the standard shock setup? I'm by no means a suspension expert, but seems kind of overkill as the weight of the rig should be on the coil spring still. PIG could you school me on this one? Thanks!

The whole idea of the kit is to be able to mount a coil over or air shock. It just so happens that you can use any type of shock with the kit. In the case here ABQ-TJ just wanted to run a long travel high quality shock absorber. Whats nice is that if he wants to upgrade to coil overs in the future there are no other mods neccessary. The kit is only available with the crossbrace. For the price its a pretty good value IMO.
troyman 03-27-2006, 03:54 PM Cool, thanks for the info. If someone was planning to only run the shock absorbers and never planning to go the coilover/airshock route, would you still recommend running something like this with a cross brace due to the higher mounting location of the shock?
ABQ-TJ 03-27-2006, 04:36 PM It's a good question, but I do like the extra brace in there for a "just in case" kind of deal. It would take a hell of a lot to rip those beefy shock mounts off anyways, but having it there is nice insurance too.
And yeah, I can swap to coilovers in the future if I want (and I might, who knows...jeeps never seem to be "done").
chris demartini 03-27-2006, 04:39 PM Dave I have a question. I noticed you put bushings in the cross brace. I'm far from an engineer, but wouldn't the deflection in the bushing absorb a great amount of the movement of the towers that the cross brace is designed to eliminate?
The kit looks good though
ABQ-TJ 03-27-2006, 04:46 PM There's no bushings in my kit...it's all metal to metal. And TIGHT as hell.
BTW....wanted to say thanks for the great service from Poly! Turns out they sent me the wrong size spacers for the shocks eyes with these fronts (the ones for the rear fit..and I'll be doing those later in about a week). I called today and Ethan is sending me out the correct spacers tomorrow. I know mistakes can and do happen in business, it's how they are corrected that matter to customers. Great job! :D
troyman 03-27-2006, 07:41 PM Very cool, thanks for the info guys.
