: Front Spring Hangers
TTURokToy 04-07-2002, 07:48 PM I'm building a front spring hanger and was wondering if there is anyplace i can buy some pre-built spring hangers, not a whole new hanger, just the part where the spring eye bolts too.
Is the rear front hanger the same size as the front? If it is, i think i can just buy some from all-pro. I would build my own, but it would be alot easier to just buy them from somebody and weld and gusset them to my 2x3" chunk of stell. If it wasnt raining here i would measure myself, but i figure somebody must know.
Bones 04-07-2002, 08:10 PM Come on! It's not that tough to do. Do a simple search, or get wet for 2 minutes and measure yours :flipoff2:Here's mine (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16898&highlight=spring+hanger) and I used 44044's which are wider, so take that into account. I think Toyota's are 2.75" compared to 3".
TTURokToy 04-07-2002, 08:23 PM Actually, i have your drawings and was planning on copying them, but thought it would be easier to just buy them. Got one question, on the two inch drop, why do you have the spring hangers as being 6" wide? Shouldnt it be 2.75" or 3" for 4044s?

6" wide divided by 2 is 3" :D
Bill Collins 04-07-2002, 08:35 PM you should be able to get some at any trailer parts place...

Wilson 04-07-2002, 11:00 PM Easy would be to buy thewhole hanger from Kong's. I think you can get hangers from a jeep dealership.

Are you MAD?

Brian Ellinger 04-08-2002, 08:35 AM We have spring hangers, or a hanger kit in stock. The front hangers have 18mm holes in 'em, and the rears are 14mm. You could use the rear hangers up front, if you flip 'em around, and they go for 20 a piece, 1/4" plate. Check the site for more details.

why did you decide to with 1/2" drop hanger as compared to all-pro's, kong's, etc 1.5" drop hangers? and what length springs do you recommend for that front hanger? stock length? from what i read it doesn't appear that it will move the axle forward any.
Brian Ellinger 04-08-2002, 09:08 AM jht3, we wanted only 1/2" drop for a couple reasons. For one, we didnt want to "build in" more lift than we had to. And running factory straight trucks, we hit our hangers enough, sowe didnt want them longer and getting hit more. Not because it will hurt the hangers, but because we like to drive over the rocks, and not into them!
The kit is designed to convert the IFS frame back to dimensions of a solid axle frame. This way any spring built for a 79-85 truck will bolt in, no need for custom length springs. That said, where you decide to put the shackle hangers determines what length springs will fit.
Also, flipping the hanger around will move the front spring mount 1" forward from stock. The hangers duplicate the factory dimensions, except 1/2" lower. With the hanger assembly flipped around, youd want to put one of the gussets in front of the xmember, at about 45* to point to the outer corner, and one on top the the hanger. Not sure if that makes sense or not.....
Basically it was designed to duplicate factory settings, but being a kit, you can do a few things easily to change it into anything you want!
e cliff 04-09-2002, 10:55 AM here one and you can find more athttp://bentup.com/
morpheus 04-09-2002, 11:21 AM if you're looking to run the wagoneer springs, here's some hangers or you could use these and add a spacer on each side and be ready for the wider springs if you ever wanted to run them.

flimmy 04-09-2002, 01:18 PM I went to the link and didn't see a good pic of them. Are they the same one's, $16 ?
Bones 04-09-2002, 01:23 PM Why is it so hard to build a front hanger? Mine cost $16 (I had to redo it, so cut that $$ in half) 1/2" plate welded to some 1.5"x3" square tubing. May not be as purdy ;) but serves it's purpose
