OK ya'll, help me out, and tell me if I am insane or not. Probably am but what the hell, I asked your opinion.
I am going to help a friend pull the 2.8L v-6 out of his 87 S10 2wd with an automatic. Being as I am not overly knowledgeable about GM products, I tried to do some research first.
What I have come up with is what I need clarification on. I read that I will have to disconnect the body mounts and raise the body to get to the upper tranny to engine block bolts.
Is this true?

No. You can get to them with an end wrench. It takes you several minutes, but it can be done. It helps if you have skinny arms.

That lifting the body stuff is BS! It can be done without lifting the body. It also REALLY helps to pull the dist. first.

I don't exactly have skinny arms, but I'll give it a shot before lifting the body. Thanks.

I'll let you know as soon as it gets dry enough to go back outside and try. I am working on it in my spare time and the weather decided to take a 4" raining spree. I wish I had a flipping garage.

UR PULLING THE MOTOR. U DIDNT SAY WEATHER OR NOT UR GONNA BE REPLACEING IT.. IF UR GONNA BE DROPPING ANOTHER ENGINE BACK THEN UR BES BET IS TO REMOVE TEH DOG HOUSE IN ONE PIECE.. IM CURENTLY PUTTING A 6 WITH AUTO IN A 86 S-10 WHICH I PULLED A 4 BANGER AND 5 SPD OUT OF .. TAKIGNTH DOG HIOUSE OUT IS SO MUCH EASIER ..THEN TRYING TO WRENCH ON SUMTHING THAT IS TIGHT TBEGIN WITH. SO IF UR JUNKING THE S10 CUTTING TOUCH SAWZALL.. PLASMA CUTTER.. BUT IF UR GONNA BE REPLACING THE ENGINE .. DOP THE DOG OHOUSE OFF IN ABOUT 30 TO 45 MINS .. THEN U'LL HAVEALL THE ROOM IN TE WORLD.
