: Master Cylinder cover gaskets??

So who's the one who removed the search button??? Is that temporary or permanent??

I need a 'better/thicker' gasket for the lid of my master cylinder. OR a better way of attaching the thing.

Installed a Mercury Marquis MC on the YJ. The clearance between the booster and the MC is just barely enough to let the clamp fit. Had to tweak the clamp (wire) a bit to make it work. We thought we had it on there pretty good but after driving it - we found its leaking at the front (from under the lid).

No - I don't want to dent the booster to fit the clamp.
No - I'm not gonna add washers behind the MC (and change the throw of the pushrod).

If all else fails - I'll buy another stock replacement gasket and double up.

I'm also game to buy a new lid if I have to - or if there's a better way to clamp it down and eliminate that wire clamp....I'm game for that also as long as its not twisty ties or hose clamps. I want it to be a clean looking.

I haven't had any luck finding any places that sell only gaskets (online). I gotta make some phone calls.

Just poking around to see if you guys have any brilliant ways of dealing with this type of leak.

Thanks!!

As for your question, you might try the HELP section at Autozone. They usually have MC gaskets and covers for many of the popular brands. Or you could try NAPA. Ask for them to look in the A-1 Cardone manual to possibly find cover gaskets.

Damn,

Didn't think anyone would have some miraculous way of fixing this :grinpimp:

Called Napa, Pep Boys, and they couldn't find crap in their books. I called the dealership and they don't even have parts lists for vehicles that old. :shaking:

The husband brought home some rubber I'll cut to shape ...or I may end up using some sort of u-bolt and plate confirguration.

Always something to work on..... and it had to be a LID thats kickin my ars!
