: Chevy into Early Bronco
T-Monkey 03-27-2006, 04:25 PM Does anybody make motor mounts for a SB chevy swap into a early bronco? Specifically, I want to put a 4.3 V6 into my '66 Bronco in front of the NP435. Has anybody done this? What are the issues?
Before you rag on me for mix breeding my FoMoCo- think about it. The Chevy V6 in a natural coice- easy to mate to NP435 (which is mated to the D20 and ready to install), cheap and easy to find, can choose Vortec, TBI or carb, and it is relatively light with good power output.
lttlbddy 03-27-2006, 04:48 PM We used the AA motor mounts into custom brackets to go to a Chevy 5.3 into my '68.

I know an even more natural choice!
a small block ford
easy to mate to NP435
cheap and easy to find
can choose SEFI TBI or carb or LPG
relatively light with good power output
fits on the stock mounts

96BKO 03-28-2006, 06:34 PM go to the chevy talk and sell me you 66 bko before you go.
wheelin66bronco 03-28-2006, 07:09 PM Sorry T-Monkey, you'll get no love over here on this project. Cummins in a bronco yes, 351W yes, big-block maybe, cheby-NO.
FordFascist 03-28-2006, 07:43 PM I still don't see the point of swapping a V-6 Chevy into an EB. It would be a dog. While a 5.3, 6.0 or LS1 is still revolting to me, it makes a lot more sense than a 4.3. Even then you are still wasting your money as the Ford stuff swaps into it 5 times easier and for a hell of a lot less money.
People have told me that doing gay shit is genetic. I guess I can't argue with DNA.
Poohbair 03-28-2006, 08:14 PM ...im with everyone else... please don't...
Why would a 4.3 be better than a 5.0???
T-Monkey 03-28-2006, 09:27 PM I am happy to see that there are so many purists out there looking out for the brand. Let's say I keep it all Ford, but I still want to have a something different under the hood. Has anybody put a Ford 250 I6 into their bronco? Is it a direct swap for the 170? From where I see it, this move should make the purists very happy.
I would like to thank lttlbddy for his info on the motor mounts and give him props on the clean fab job.
lttlbddy 03-28-2006, 09:50 PM Dallas, ala Stinkyfab, did the custom work. I just supplied the project, grunt labor and $$$.
My heritage is Mutt and so are my vehicles. Whatever works. Keep us posted.
braxton357 03-28-2006, 11:23 PM This is p4x4, where swapping a sbc into a ford or vice-versa isn't really a big deal, but these guys are right...unless you've already got a 4.3 and np435 already bolted up and sitting in your garage, the swap really makes no sense. Either way you'll have to make new mounts though...

The Ford 200 and 250 are simple bolt in's if you have the 170. There is no reason you can't be as creative as you want and be happy. Purest my fat grannys ass, what works good for you when you wheel is all you need to consider. That is unless your cutting the fenders on an uncut clean 66. Then your just plain stupid. :flipoff2:
