Well several years ago I purchased a warn xd9000i through dick cepek. By the time the winch got to me I totaled my old rig and it sat unopened for years. I just now got my toyota running and took the winch out and damn if the solinoid cover wasnt dented , anyway I hooked it up and every time or almost ever time you engage the winch in or out it makes a grinding noise pretty bad that resembles gear grinding . Anybody got any ideas what the hell is wrong with it. TIA chris:mad3:

Do you still have the original receipt? Call Warn's customer service and talk to them.

So you're saying its new, just hasn't been out of the box? I can't imagine how any kind of shipping damage could cause the problem, but it shouldn't have a grinding sound - whining, maybe, but not grinding. I'd check with Warn but if they can't/won't help, you ought to open it up and look at the gears. Here's a link on disassembling and troubleshooting that winch - this guy had a chewed up bushing that caused some gear noise.
