Alright, well first off I have to say I'm trespassing in your forum... sorry... next I have a question about some prespective axles. I would put them into my XJ if they are what I am hoping, but that is where you all come in. Alright, well I work for the state and can get killer deals on out of date state vehicles at auction. I have noticed that all the maintenance trucks are Ford F250s with eight lug wheels, warn lock out hubs up front... I would say most of them are mid 90s, maybe early, but the axles look beefy to me. Now I'm not the guy that can see an axle under a vehicle and say, hey that's a HP44 or a nine inch, but I am hoping maybe that's the combo under these trucks. I can probably pick one up for a couple hundred bucks and would be well worth it to me if I can get these previously mentioned axles. Typically maintenance is performed EXTREMELY regularly on these trucks and axles should be in good shape. Anyone know whether I could be lucky enough to have a HP44 and nine inch under a mid to early 90s F250? The front axle is solid by the way before someone asks.

Those arent a HP44 and a 9 inch... sorry. They are a D60 and a 10.25", way better than the 44/9

Is there much aftermarket support for 10.25? This is the first I have heard of it.

There are plenty of gears and lockers available for them...if thats what you mean.

An early 90s 250 will have ttb front end (IFS). Your best bet is to find an 87-91(kingpin) or 92+(balljoint) f350 with a solid d60.

I don't know exactly which year these trucks are, but it has a solid front axle, not IFS.

like he said, there is a large availability for aftermarket parts. both of those axles are very strong. An upside of the 10.25 is that its a full float axle.
If people dont install a 14 bolt or D70 then they typically go for a 10.25... not particularly in that order though.

Do they say 4x4 below the headlight? or do they have all emblems removed?
