Is there any reason not to run a 61 if you do not want to go lower than 4.10?
According to the dana BOM page you can get 4.10s in a 61 and some 61s have 35 spline this would mean more clearance than a 70 but with 70 35 spline axle strength.
Also would not the ring gear be stronger in a 61 than a 60 due to the added width?

The one I was looking at was full float. You can have a full float c clip?

from the dana page:
FORD Model 61 REAR 1981-1983 E350 DRW CHASSIS-FULL FLOAT
A bunch of the other van d61 rears say FULL FLOAT on them as well
yes I was taken back too.

I've got a FF 61 out of a mid 80's Ford van. Call Sandy at www.coneindustries.com He seems to be the Dana 61 guru. I believe with a spacer you can run Dana 60 gears.

BTW
you can run any D60 gear in a 61 as long as you buy a 40$ ring gear spacer
FWIW
yes a D61 with D61 4.10's would be stronger than a D60 4.10 due to the added thickness of the ring gear

i have the same BOM # you have and mine came with 30 spline axles but the spindles were drilled for 35 spline axles (1.51") i simply got matching axles at the JYD when i baught the axle (they werent slid in all the way because the 35's would not slide into the 30spline carrier but the JYD didnt know the differance
