Me and my buddy are building him a truck. So we went to the shalvege yard and picked up a 75 250 like mine. Except his has a divorced t-case. It dosent have any of the shifter linkage like mine. So im wondering what kind of t-case it is. Its also gear driven. Is this a 205??? Any Help

It could be a 205 or a Dana 24.

ford is like that, got more mixed up shit than a tijuana sewer. odds are its a 205. it should have a blue alum. tag between the in/out puts on the front of the case.

Most likely a 205, we just parted out a 76 250 and it was a 435 205 divorced. Common combo.

Ill look for that tag. Is it going to be blunt and say NP205 on it or will i have to call Ford??

How many shift links does it have? My 76 Highboy came with a NP203 and had two shift links. The NP205 "Should" only have one shift link.

look at your 205, then look at the un-id'd case. if they look really similar, its a 205. the D24 looks totally different.

Its totaly different than mine. instead of having the linkage that push pulls out of the case to shift, its got ones that rotate and theirs two seprate shifter rods. One works H N L and the other locks in the front drive shaft. Its some kind of all time 4x4 system. The shifter says 4High-4High Lock, N, 4Low-4Low Lock?????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????No 2X4 at all un less it slips in the diff.

I believe that is a 203. I had a 76 F-150 with that shift pattern and it was a 203. Does it have fulltime hubs on it? It it does it is most likely a 203.

Yep, it's a 203. You just described how my 203 operated and looked on my 76 Highboy. Install a Mile Marker part time conversion kit, and make your own twin stick (you can operate the high / low separate from the 2WD / 4WD). My 203 survived for about 10 years with the part time conversion before the chain stretched too much to engage the front output. Or, get a married 205 and double it up. The divorce mount 203 mated to a married style 205 won't be much larger than the 203 is now.

Yes it has all time hubs. We kinda like it though, dont know about converting. We dont have to get out in knee high mud to lock them. It is gear driven though not a chain. Did 203's come both ways?? Doubling sounds nice need more info on that though. Give me all you got.

NP203's have gears and the chain. the low range box (the part they use to make doublers) is gear drivem, but the front output is driven by a chain.

What makes you say it's a gear drive? If your T-Case is a 203, it will have 3 sections.
• 1st is the front for the gear reduction / 2WD-4WD (if you make it part time). This is also where the sift links are attached.
• 2nd is the middle section that does the physical transfer of power to the front output (it looks similar to a 205 case).
• 3rd is the rear section (If I remember correctly it has two housings) that holds the spider gear style differential. This section is what gives the 203 its full time capability (I.E. splitting torque to the front and rear much like a differential in an axle). This is also the section that you mess with to convert the 203 to a part time T-case.
If your T-Case sounds like this, then it’s a chain drive 203. Take the cover off of the back of the front output; you’ll be able to see the chain. If it’s not, then I’d sure like to know what kind of T-Case you’ve got.

the part you are seeing is the reduction part thats gear driven. its a 203. new process puts a round aluminum plate on the cases that says "new process ####" that number is the type of case.

Here is Off Road Design's web sight

You'll find what you need to mate that 203 you have to a maried style 205.
