Whats wrong with my truck? It's a 99 Powerstroke 6 speed. At about anywhere from 1500 to 2000 Rpm in any gear the motor wants to quit. It doesnt die it just wont pull anymore. I noticed this problem about 2 to 3 weeks ago didnt reaaly think anything of it, but it seems as if it is getting worse.
Thanks for any and all help

Check the oil. When was the last time it was changed? Does it do it if you rev it up in nuetral?

Check your CPS Crank position Sensor mounted right above the harmonic balancer they fail frequently and don't always act the same when they fail. Another problem could be stuff in your fuel tank. Diesel fuel if not handled correctly can grow algae and bacteria in the tank and contaminate the entire fuel system. Try disconneting the line at the tank and blow air into the tank to possible clear any sock obstruction. Do not use very high pressure to do so. Hope it helps. Jim

fresh oil change and fuel filter, new CAM sensor and ICP sensor. Ill try the fuel line trick and see what happens

when you do the fuel like trick pull the cap off of the tank of you'll have some problems.
Chekc your fuel pressure it almost sounds like your electric fuel pump on the frame rail is dying. It is supplying adequate volume for lower levels of fuel consumption but then falls of when you need higher volumes. The PSD will run with very low fuel pressures but it ideally wants them in the +50 range.
When it won't pull is there any smoke? check the air filter, and intake to the airfilter, as well as ensure all of the turbo & intercooler boots are tight.

Mine is a 2000 E350 PSD and it was a fuel related problem it took 2 shops, 2+ weeks and almost $2000 of guessing for me to find it was a diesel contamination problem in the tank. The diesel 911 stuff is great...However if there is stuff in the tank growing and you kill it with something. the dead remnants are still there and can/will clog the sock at the tank pickup tube.

Try looking for any technical service bulitans(sp) there are a few for 99 PSD's that have to do with fuel delivery.

nope thats not it. I get to waste more time and money. awsome
does the CEL come on when this happens? In addition to checking your fuel pressure i would check your HPOP pressure.

Throwing money at the problem isnt gonna fix it in a hurry. Before changing the fuel pump you should have put a gauge on it to see what the fuel pressure was, both at idle and under WOT. Too late now, at least you know the fuel pressure isnt the issue now. If you dont want to waste any more money on it, just take it to a GOOD repair shop, or the dealer and have them plug in there NGS (or similar scan tool) so you can really monitor what is going on with the truck during these conditions. It might cost you 70 or 80 bucks for an hour of shop time, but you will find the problem. If there is a CEL light on, take it to your local VatoZone and have them scan it for free, itll at least get you going in the right direction.

I dont have any lights on and im not farmiliar enough with the truck to know what HPOP pressure is.
I know this is irrellevant but when I went to go get my fuel pump in my bronco the C4 blew a trans line, so this is turninng out to be a great day full excitement

HPOP is short for "High Pressure Oil Pump". Its an oil pump that works up in the 2500psi range to operate the injectors. This could be going bad, but I would think that it would trip a CEL if there was low HPOP pressure. Anyway, i stand by my earlier statement that having a dealer scan it with his NGS is probably the quickest way to find the problem.

Did you try blowing into the line to the tank from the fuel pump? That was where my problem was. Garbage had gotten around the sock at the pick up tube causing WOT fuel delivery problems and my CEL would flicker.

The fuel pressure is at 70 psi even when the truck is running poorly so I dont believe that it is a fuel issue. in that the motor is getting plenty of fuel. I am going to plug it into a scanner that a friend is getting from the dealership. Ill go from there.
