Go to a Motorcycle shop and they sell a adapter to inject lube into the cable.

I like Lubriplate, and for cables the tube packaging is hard to beat. Disconnect one end, squirt it in. I've never found any liquid in a can that stays well. Put some grease in there!

What exactly is lubriplate and where can I get it?

It's some damn good lubricant and you should be able to locate it
in some of the older mom and pop type auto parts stores . At least that's where I find it here in my lil' part of the world . :flipoff2:

It's a very high quality white grease, often used as engine assembly lube. It clings very well, and has a remarkably light body; it has a lot of excellent properties. NAPA carries it (at least here). Mom & Pop type parts stores usually do too; if an engine builder didn't have any, well I wouldn't buy an engine there. It used to come in a black and silver can, but the last few times I've seen it in a store it was in a white plastic tube. That tube is ideal for cables; trim the end to fit your cable, fit and squeeze. If you get it in a can, the stuff has such a light texture that you can use a syringe or bulb to squirt it where you want it.

I'd heard that Lubriplate Inc. was purchased by the parent company that owns NAPA (and about half the automotive world). That'd be a good place to check first.
