I just need to know how to disconnect the clutch fluid line so I can remove the transmission. I dont know the exact year of the truck but it looks late 80s or early 90s. the line itself looks like black plastic and has no threaded or bolted fitting at either end that I can see.

theres a plastic retainer ring that has to be GENTLY slid towards the tranny on the line..use a small screwdriver....and buy the hanes book:grinpimp:

There's a black plastic line that goes from the m/c to the s/c (which is where you're removing it, as you know). On mine (87) there was a metal jesus clip(yes from the factory...a buddy that's had a few rangers said his was the same way) that you pull out and the line will pull right out. There's an o-ring on the end, be careful that it doesn't get lost. That's it.

Have fun getting the clip back in!!!

no v8? why drive?

It depends on your tranny. If its a M5ODR1, then it will have a plastic collar on the end of the line that you slide inwards towards the slave and will allow you to pull the line out while it is pushed in. If its a FM145/146 or Tk it will have a retaining pin behind the fitting that you can pull out and the line will come free.

I have pushed pulled and twisted every posible part and it still wont budge. the guy that owns the truck took a look at it and told me to cut the stupid thing, and thats just what Im gonna do. nothing will make me happier than making it bleed.

but thanks for all the suggestions I think whatever makes that fitting come apart has long since stopped working.

on top of the trouble I had with the ford. I broke my 1/2 in breaker bar on the axle nut of a honda civic. the little jasper was really on there
